No trouble with wifi off. The movie played just fine. Not sure why it was checking the network all the time.

Since I saw your post, I did some testing. If wifi is off when I start the VUDU client, it asked for my login, and then complains there is no network. It does not open to the downloaded movies tab as others reported. If the client is running, already connected, and then I lose wifi, I can keep playing the movie. If network is weak, you're better to turn off wifi once the movie is playing, or you'll get pop-ups all the time.

As you said, the whole point of downloading movies is to watch them when you are not connected to the network. You need to plan ahead and leave the client running, already authenticated, or you can't start it up. I have a feeling it's a bug, not a plan. Does seem an obvious defect though. I wonder if the IOS version makes a difference. I have an iPad gen 1, running 5.1.1.

This is a big failure. How is this any different that what we had before ?
Sure I can actually download the movie, but I still need WiFi to play the movie? What gives. Might as well save my storage space and just stream it.
Currently playback in offline only supports fully downloaded movie. If you still have progress bar then it's not fully downloaded and can't be playable in offline.

We are working on the right handling for partially downloaded movies.

That's good to know, in my case I did have the movie downloaded all the way.

I couldn't reproduce with fully downloaded movies. Please describe what you see when you go to "My Downloads" and select the movie to view.

You can also test when you can turn on Airplane mode to see if you can play. We are interested to know the way to reproduce so we can fix it.

            Thanks,

So I've done as you have requested and I'll add a little bit more info of what I'm using.
I have an iPhone 5 on iOS 6.1.4

When I go in to My Downloads I see the movie that I have downloaded and it only gives me 1 option underneath the picture and that is Delete.

              I downloaded a movie 100%

With WIFI on I touch the picture and it played no problem.
With WIFI turned off and I touch the picture it would not play. Just get the spinning lines.

Thank you very much. It is very interesting detail. So the only time the movie wouldn't play is you have Wifi OFF. When you have Wifi OFF then it would totally depending on the 4G/LTE to connect and obtain playback data. Do you have a working 4G/LTE signal at that time? Can you tell me the movie title that you have trouble with?

The movie title should not be relevant but I just want to match exactly your situation so I can see the problem. As of now I have iPhone 5, with 6.1.2 but I couldn't reproduce the problem w/ wifi on/off or Airplane mode on/off.

                Thanks,
