Correction: Spider-man 3 also downgraded to SD at FN. Spider-man 2 and Amazing Spider-man 1&2 are still showing HD as owned for the time being. Might be back for as update on those later.

I also have quite a few other Sony titles in UHD that only show SD being owned at FN.
      That is a FandangoNow bug.

If you have UHD rights to a title that FN only has in HD, FN will give you SD.

Well then it looks as though those other 3 will downgrade at some point. Lol

Last fall I had a email battle with Sony as my UHD titles were trapped there and they ended up giving me a code to redeem on MA. And we've seen many, many issues with MA sync and situations that worked great be reversed (like MA titles going to UV through VUDU). Digital 'rights' are still a mess and risky. Redeeming on VUDU could reduce that risk given Sony store is no MA.

Personally I'm still sitting on my UHD Spider-man codes until they redeem as UHD on VUDU (as I already have HD on digital and the UHD discs at home).

Well you might be waiting forever. Vudu hasn't fixed issues for titles that came out two years ago and might not be able to. I'm enjoying my movies now in UHD.
Why would you put vudu over the company that issued the code sony?

I have never had a problem with any of the studio owned UV sites. Paramount or Sony. Even when vudu had sony titles in SD I always redeemed on sony's site to get the HD license. When vudu upgraded the titles to HDX they automatically upgraded.

When you redeem on sony or paramount the UV license goes directly to Ultraviolet, if your code is a 4k UHD code you will always get a 4k UV licence from the studio sites.

As I mentioned, redeeming on the studio site can 'trap' a UHD title there as having a UV UHD license is nice but isn't meaningful if there is no service runs on your device that can view it that way. Without having it on Vudu, Amazon, Google, or for many iTunes, as UHD, it wouldn't be viewable. To have it on all those sites you have to have it on MA and only Vudu is linked to MA and UV. UV may not even exist in a few years if Paramount or Lionsgate join MA.

The studio sites may work to always get you the highest resolution at the moment but they doesn't mean you can view it anywhere as such. They are also all afterthoughts of sites that may or may not be continued as there is no way they are profit generators for the studios. And in terms of getting support on a title that you may be having issues with, you have to go back to the redemption site which means a lot of different locations you may have to navigate. While all these issues don't currently apply to Spider-Man specifically, they are all extra concerns that you have to worry about on a title by title basis.

And for me, I'm not in any hurry on redemption on titles like this (that I already have HD digital rights to) as I have the discs which I will always use over lower quality streaming and none of my family members who I share my streaming with have UHD TV's yet so I'm not missing anything.

UV licenses that appear on Vudu push to MA. So there is no "risk" of redeeming on the Sony site.

If you really don't want to use Sony's site, just redeem on MA. Which is what the Sony site presents as the default choice anyway (with UV redemption being the second options).

Hell, if you're not going to use your codes, PM them to me. I'll be enjoying them on Vudu in UHD within minutes of receipt.

              It really is that simple/painless.
