REQ: Please change the way "Free First Episodes" works

A lot of different VOD services offer "Free First Episode" specials, so I don't know if this is a studio thing that you are restricted on...but...

Would it be possible to change the fact that you have to "Purchase" or "Own" these free first episodes to offer a free rental of the episode instead? Maybe once you rent it keeping rental rights for 30 days or something...

By forcing us to own the episode, I am much less willing to give new shows a chance because if I don't like it, it winds up just cluttering up my TV section. And if I decide to have it deleted, it winds up taking up my time communicating with Vudu about it and then takes up the time of a Vudu support agent to take care of it.

Since the whole goal of the free first episodes is to get people to try out a new show in hopes of them liking it and thereby buying more episodes, I would think more people (like me) would be willing try new shows via the free first episodes if they could just rent it.

    Or...

If you can't do that...how about giving us an option to push a button to "Remove Free Episode" if we don't like it.

I think that until they implement a way to delete it ourselves, you can always call (888) 554-VUDU and have them delete it for you.

Yes, I know, but like I said that wastes my time being on hold plus the tech's time.

I would rather not even bother with the free episode if I have to call in and go through all that every time I want one removed.

That's why I was asking for a better solution.

I think that all content we buy on vudu should have a delete button. Other providers have delete functions.

Yeah, but what if other providers jumped off a bridge?

It's annoying for sure. I have the free first episode of Luthor, but when it was on the year end sale, I bought the whole series. But the first episode still shows as a separate entry.

Go back in your momma's basement, little boy.

All you ever do is try to attack what everyone says or try to pick apart people.

For now on the best thing to do is just to ignore the troll. Which is what I will be doing after this post.

Yep, which defeats the whole purpose of why they do the free first episode in the first place.

Which means they are losing sales because people like us aren't finding new stuff to get hooked on

I'd prefer a hide button, in case you accidentally delete the wrong movie or regret deleting it later.

I have about 10 free episodes clogging my TV section that I want gone, but am to lazy to call. lol

I agree. I never download free episodes because I don't want them stuck in my library forever. It would be great if they made the free episodes a 48-hour rental. Or a Delete option would be good too. I'd definitely give more stuff a try if I could easily remove it from my collection.

I see post after post from people justifying requests by saying that competitors do it that way. A good idea should stand on it's own. It doesn't matter whether a competitor has a particular feature or not. If it's a good idea, it'd be worth having for Vudu. In my opinion, if somebody keeps pointing out that Vudu should be set up more like a particular competitor, than that user may be happier going to the company that already has the features they care for. I've seen some requests for features that I'd like. Alternatively, what if the competition doesn't have that feature? Does it mean that Vudu shouldn't, either?

PS Try to post without resorting to name calling in the future. If you want to have a discussion, let's have a discussion. If not, don't post.

+1 for hiding as opposed to delete

I am assuming I can call and delete the dozen or so free first episodes I have and don't want, one call solves the issue, one call is all it will take with the list of free episodes on my TV screen to read from. I haven't done that yet but will in the future, not as easy as not having to call but certainly easier than complaining. Why not just send a request to Vudu for the ability to hide or delete unwanted programs and quit wasting time complaining here and when convenient, spend a few minutes to call if the feature isn't added soon enough to suit you.

Personally, I like the free episode offer and the slight inconvenience to remove isn't worth complaining about. I do agree an easy removal process would be nice but of very minor importance. If you won't try a free episode because of the minor inconvenience to remove, that is certainly your right, don't get me wrong, but that sure seems silly to me.
