I?m sure many here can join me in my frustration

first off, I love Vudu. I have over 2,000 titles in my library and had been very happy with the service. Here?s my issues now...number 1. The UHD problem. I have over 1,900 movies in HDX that I paid a LOT of $$$ for. Now Vudu starts releasing UHD versions at NO DISCOUNT to those that have purchased these titles previously??? That to me is ridiculous. Its well known that itunes offers a free upgrade to 4K. Hell, im not even asking for free. But shouldn?t we be able to upgrade for $5? $10?? Something? Now, a lot of this frustration could be helped out by some news from Vudu, ?we are working on it.? Or ?it is under consideration.? But we never hear anything from Vudu. No monthly newsletter, nothing. I just feel there is no appreciation for the Vudu customer. Which brings me to my second problem. When I first got Vudu, years ago. I noticed they ask for suggestions for movies to make available, I thought that was great. Until I noticed, none of those suggestions are ever responded to. And it has gotten worse. I used to have about 100 dvd/blu rays that were not available on Vudu. But maybe 1 or 2 of them would slowly become available every month or so. Well, I haven?t had one of those titles become available in over a year now. And look no further than the ?title requests? section to see what some of those movies are. Now, I understand its not as easy as just making these titles available, but that doesnt make it any less frustrating. On that same note, cant Vudu let us know of upcoming releases of older titles? Bad enough they got rid of the ?new releases? tab on the website. Lastly, 2 years ago if u told me I would be leaving Vudu I?d have said ?no way!? But the lack of appreciation I get from the company is infuriating. Shouldn?t ur members be the people you go to for ideas? I fully expect this message will accomplish nothing. But I got it off my chest.

I actually read all that and even agree with some of it... love that newsletter idea. Most of these complaints have been voiced here.

I agree with most of what you have to say in principal. However in actuality it is more complicated. I would love a free or discounted upgrade path but when we bought DVD's we didn't get a free upgrade to Blu-ray. Not are we getting to upgrade our Blu-ray's to 4K Blu-ray for free or at a discount. For example, the Matrix is coming out on 4K disc this week. I have bought the Matrix 2 times already (once SD, once HD) I would love a free upgrade to UHD but that is probably not realistic. iTunes is NOT offering free across the board upgrades. They are offering 4K upgrades on NEW redemptions from a FEW studios that redeem on iTunes. Past redemptions are NOT upgraded.

agreed! Apple was late to the game, as usual, so they are up to some smoke and mirror tricks to gain customers.

This is incorrect. Apple is upgrading any content that was purchased/redeemed as HD in iTunes to UHD if it exists in UHD. iTunes is not upgrading content that you purchased/redeemed elsewhere.

I am not disputing that. If you read my post I explain that. As the saying goes. reading is fundamental. However, do not leave people with the impression that that a person's entire existing iTunes library of past redemptions would be upgraded. That is not the case. That is why I specified NEW as opposed to past.

Apple did upgrade past redemptions of HD titles that were redeemed in iTunes.

I understand what u are saying. However, with disc to digital I was able to upgrade from dvd to HDX for $5. (I actually bought a lot SD first because I was stupid. Then did the $5 upgrade.) i did say im not expecting a free upgrade. But a $5/$10 upgrade? Seems fair to me. Do i really need to pay another $20? $25? I can?t imagine re-buying what is already over 100 titles that have become available in UHD after ive purchased them multiple times already.

Maybe some day down the road the studios and pay per view streaming services will operate more like Netflix or cable channels and output in one high quality resolution across the board. I just don't see that as economically realistic at this point. Especially when movies like the Matrix, Gladiator, Braveheart etc. are being released on 4k discs for $25+. Would you give away something for $5 that people were willing to pay more for? It is a tough pill to swallow (pun intended) and I wish it would happen but if wishes were horses beggars would ride.
