Upgrading purchased HD movies to UHD

This has probably been discussed before, but here is what I'm wondering: If I purchase an MA UHD movie on Amazon, will it transfer to Vudu in UHD for a movie I already own in HDX (and UHD is available to purchase for this movie on Vudu)? The second part of this question: with this same scenario, would it upgrade the movie to UHD on iTunes? I have tried upgrading an MA HDX movie by buying a UHD movie on iTunes and it didn't work, which is ridiculous. But I haven't tried it by buying on Amazon. I assume it won't work with upgrading it on Vudu, so I'm particularly interested if it would upgrade it on iTunes.

i have had titles upgrade to UHD from iTunes. However it did require me deleting the UV HD version

Yeah, I can see that this would work. I wonder if anyone has tried upgrading from Amazon to iTunes and Vudu?

If the movie is MA, and doesn't currently have issues with porting, then yes and yes. Any UHD purchase on a MA partnered service will export the UHD to MA, which will export it to all services connected in UHD, and if the title is already UHD on said service, it will give you the upgrade. I know a few issues with not posting correct, like with Polyester (only SD on Vudu), but if you purchase from Amazon it will not port to MA as HD since it has porting issues. Buying it from iTunes in HD did port, so as soon as Vudu adds it in HD, it will auto upgrade to HDX for me.

Yeah, I tried upgrading Close Encounters to UHD on iTunes by buying it on Amazon. It ported to MA as 4K, but did not upgrade it on iTunes.

That's probably one of the titles that have porting issues with. Either MA or iTunes has the ID wrong more than likely, easy mistake since there's 3 different versions. Also, was the one you bought on Amazon theatrical, extended or director's cut?

That's probably why. iTunes only sells the theatrical. The special edition and director's cuts are only extras after purchasing the theatrical.

Yeah, that's true. And I think the special edition was my only choice in UHD on Amazon. Sheesh.

It sucks when these services have different versions. I think if one provides 1 version, all streamers should offer the same thing.
