    Universal UHD Upgrades

Now that Universal has dropped UV support, any title that one owns a HD version of becomes available in UHD at other retailers linked to MA...would said title(s) get upgraded at VUDU or would one need to unlink from MyUV in order for a upgrade to take place? Any input would be helpful and much appreciated.

You should get the best version available to you via MA. The only difference between before and now, is if you buy the UHD version on Vudu, it won't upgrade your UV rights to UHD as well.

Are you referring to the upgrade at iTunes? If so, that upgrade is only on iTunes and doesn't flow to other providers. If not, where did you see information that Universal titles had free upgrades to UHD via MA?

Never said anything about free upgrade. I have titles at FN in UHD that VUDU has yet to add from Universal is why ask. Also, if purchasing <----- (not free) from other retailers UHD will that upgrade the title at VUDU without having to jump through a bunch of hoops while linked to MA?

Are these titles available in UHD at Vudu? Also, are they showing up as 4K in your Movies Anywhere transaction history (on the website, not an app)?

As a rule, titles purchased or redeemed in UHD/4K at MA or any MA retailer should be UHD/4K at all MA retailers which support that title at that resolution. If you're having problems getting UHD from a UHD slip, odds are either Vudu or the retailer you redeemed it at doesn't support it in 4K.

Universal HD codes that redeem at iTunes & upgrade free to UHD most certainly DO upgrade HD titles to UHD at Vudu via MA. I just did 2 today, Lone Survivor, and Despicable Me 3. Of course this will only occur if the title is available in UHD at Vudu.

This thread gave me hope. It would totally make sense if Universal did this as all their digital codes were single redemption. I've tried to go back and redeem some of these in UHD on Itunes, but it won't let me.

Guess all my redemption of Universal movies will be on iTunes so I can get the 4K version there and let it flow back thru MA to Vudu for the UHD copy. Since no UV, does not good to redeem on Vudu because it won't flow to the shared accounts.Guess they all lose out.

Just so it is clear for me. Is there confirmation that Universal HD codes redeemed at iTunes actually flow into MA as UHD?

Just to name a couple Universal UHD titles (Dracula Untold & Van Helsing) lost UV support and both are UHD in ones FN & MyUV accounts and HDX at VUDU. If or when they become available at VUDU in UHD will the HDX versions get upgraded with FN being linked to MA or will VUDU have to be unlinked from MyUV in order for an upgrade to take place...is my question. Has nothing to with free upgrades or redeeming codes at itunes.

This is an excellent question. Vudu?

Just to be safe, only redeem on Vudu as a last resort. I burned through my universal redemptions and now don't even have the option of upgrading those titles unless I buy them again at full price. Pretty messed up.

If Sony decides to drop UV support, how in the hell do we get those titles to port elsewhere in UHD since they are HDX as for now but may become UHD in the near future such as (Risen & The 5th Wave)? It's becoming a bunch on horse crap getting what you paid for. Stock up on some Vaseline people!!!

Ah. I get it. The topic is about mixed resolutions at various providers. I had this happen with the Lorax 1972 which was HD at Flixster and shows as HD at myUV. Yet VUDU only had SD so via MA all providers sync'd SD. And now it isn't HD at any Provider and no provider will work with WB to get an HD encode.

I agree on the Sony issue. There are a few Sony titles that I have UHD via UV yet are only HD on VUDU. As these were procured via Sony, the UHD only flows via UV. So unless Sony itself pushes titles via MA, these will only flow to MA as HD via VUDU.
