    Vudu on Nvidia Shield TV

Been playing with my new Nvidia Shield TV for a few weeks now.

This thing is leaps and bounds faster compared to my Roku 3, or even my Fire TV, Nexus, ADT-1, Apple TV. The hardware performance is just amazing short of a full blown power PC at 2-3 times the price which wouldn't be nearly as easy to set-up, maintain, operate. Not to mention the power savings given how the Nvidia is so power efficient.

Android TV unit sales have been skyrocketing lately with the Razer, Nvidia, or other recent releases.

Google Play is even offering up to $60 in free movie / app credits with purchase of the Nvidia Shield TV.

Vudu is REALLY MISSING THE BOAT by not simply updating their Android app (touch interface phone / tablet) to the Android TV (remote / console).

COME ON Vudu lets get the Android TV support going. Do you not seem how many people are side loading the Android version onto their Android TV units because they WANT it.

I agree, I have been forced to use the CinemaNow app to watch my movies because that is the only UV app available for Android TV right now. Would love to be able to use the Vudu app on my Shield TV. Maybe Vudu will let you download your movies for the Shield Pro 500GB.

I believe they announced an app at Google I/O but didn't offer a specific date, just sometime in the summer.

I forgot about CinemaNow. I'll have to install it on the Nvidia and use it until Vudu gets something going.

I wanted to dump my Roku 3 and the only things left that were UV movies (aka Vudu) and live / DVR TV (aka Simple.TV / Tablo). With SiliconDust View app (now) and their DVR app (this summer) I only needed UV and with CinemaNow that gives me everything on the Nvidia along with the already installed Netflix, Hulu, and Plex.

Power hardware here I come, bye bye Roku ! ! !

I believe the nvidia shield allows app casting simular to chrome cast. I would think you should be able to load any movie from your phone and cast it through the shield. So your phone becomes the remote control. That it not to say I dont want an dedicated app for shield. Come on VUDU some us have spent some serious money with you and now missing apps on kindle fire and shield?

Some let me know if this works i was planning on picking up a shield pro after vacation with the family.

Re: Vudu on Nvidia Shield TV

I got a Shield for Father's day and I noticed something last night: I don't use my Roku 3 any more. That means that services that aren't on the Shield aren't getting used anymore. I seem to be (mostly) happy with what's available on the Shield. What's missing? Vudu. I happen to like the Vudu service. Right now, I'm using CinemaNow and will continue to use it until 1) Something better comes along or 2) CinemaNow's experience gets worse and I have to switch back to my Roku to get what I need. This is where Vudu needs to step up its game and replace CinemaNow.

The way I see it, the existing Vudu Android app needs to merely add "controller support" and I'm back to spending money on Vudu instead of CinemaNow.

            Come on, Vudu!

Re: Vudu on Nvidia Shield TV

The NVidia blog post in June:

This is in addition to the new Android TV apps that Google announced at I/O, soon coming to SHIELD and Android TV, including: HBO Now, HBO Go, Fox News, Fox Now, FX Now, Qello, Twitch, UFC, USA Today, Vimeo, Vudu and WWE.

But I can't find any mention of a Vudu app anywhere else? Is this legit or a typo?

I also would ask that Vudu get the app working on the Shield TV. I have bought a number of movies but can not watch them on the Shield TV. Please get this working soon.

I've largely stopped using my Shield TV due to lack and Vudu and not wanting to switch back and forth between Roku and Shield TV.
