    Touchstone Pictures and Digital Codes

Do you think we will ever see the day when Touchstone Pictures will start having digital or ultraviolet codes for their older movies? Or will they ever come down off their $17.99 price for HD quality? There are so many movies such as Pearl Harbor, What about Bob?, Phenomenon to name a few that I want to add to my collection, but the price is so crazy on these titles.

I would think there'd be redemption options sooner or later, but Touchstone is a Disney label, so you won't be seeing Ultraviolet codes. Exception would be co-productions that are distributed in the US by another studio.

I'd be content if the Touchstone films got absorbed into Disney Movies Anywhere, though I don't see that working with the branding differences. There's at least a few Touchstone films that would work under that moniker.

I think Disney will go Ultraviolet eventually.

Really? That'd be great. I thought part of the appeal of having their own locker system is that it would be cross platformed to work with iTunes and Google Play.

My #1 hope right now is that Amazon or Google would join the Ultraviolet party. I have doubts about Google doing so, but heard rumors back last fall that Amazon was weighing that possibility. I wouldn't leave VUDU, but I think it would be the move that solidified Ultraviolet's future.

I think I remember that Amazon was supposed to be a part of UV originally and they backed out. Probably because they had their plate full in IT at that time and couldn't dedicate time to the project (just guessing).

I would also like to see Amazon join UV and more television shows UV enabled since I own several television shows on Amazon that were previously unavailable on Vudu.

Touchstone could at least have a 1 week sale during the summer. I'd pickup a lot of titles on my wish least if it wasn't for that $17.99 ticket price.

Disney dragged their heels on DVD too. Remember Divix? The failed format that challenged DVD in the mid to late 90s?
Disney is often last to the party. If UV becomes something of an industry standard (which it almost is at this point), I think Disney eventually has little choice but to join in.
