There are so many titles stuck in Sony Pictures Store purgatory because in many cases, it was the only place where we could redeem for UHD UV rights. All of us would appreciate Sony and Vudu working together to get these titles added to Vudu in UHD as soon as possible.

Here's some of the Sony 4K UV UHD titles that are stuck in Sony Purgatory:

    2012
    21 Jump Street
    22 Jump Street
    The 5th Wave
    Air Force One
    Angels & Demons
    Bad Boys
    Bad Boys 2
    Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk
    Bram Stoker's Dracula
    Captain Phillips
    Chappie
    Christine
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Special Edition)
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (Director's Cut)
    Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
    The Da Vinci Code
    The Dark Crystal
    The Fifth Element
    Ghostbusters
    Ghostbusters 2
    Hancock
    Inferno (2016)
    The Labyrinth
    Life
    Looper
    Men In Black
    Men In Black 2
    Men In Black 3
    Passengers
    Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
    The Quick And The Dead
    Resident Evil: Afterlife
    Resident Evil: The Final Chapter
    Risen
    Salt
    Smurfs: The Lost Village
    The Smurfs
    The Smurfs 2
    Starship Troopers
    T2: Trainspotting
    Underworld
    Underworld: Blood Wars
    The Walk
    Zero Dark

Yes, I read that but I want to be able to watch them elsewhere, namely Vudu.

No worries. Just wanted to clarify what was closing.

That's fine, I just need to support our claim with the studio.

What may happen to our titles that are from Sony and UHD UV yet VUDU does not have them in UHD yet? For example the following.

                  Ghostbusters 2016
                  Passengers 2016

We are working on acquiring more UHD library titles from various studios. We can't provide any specific timelines (and please don't ask every week) but they will be added eventually.

If, by the time Sony provides Vudu the UHD versions of these titles, they no longer support ultraviolet, will the Ultraviolet UHD rights in our Ultraviolet lockers give us access to those Sony UHD titles on Vudu?

Yes, you will always own those, they will port once Vudu adds them.

Jake, the issue in this case isn't so much not having the film encode, but the fact that Vudu doesn't seem to have a technical way to recognize (or pass) rights for quality levels that Vudu doesn't offer.

Using the quoted films as an example, if Vudu recognized that a user owned Ghostbusters 2016 [UHD] and exposed that to MA, the fact that Vudu doesn't have a copy of it for streaming in UHD wouldn't be a blocker. It would be more of a mild annoyance.

Basically, if Vudu supported the same functionality that MA did (before MA started offering UHD streams) where it treated rights ownership and separate from what was on offer to view, you would make a lot of folks happy.

The downside here is that I'm guessing you probably have the two tightly coupled on your backend, and it's probably a significant amount of work to decouple the license store from the available movie IDs. Otherwise we would have seen this long ago.

This is exactly my concern. Or if UV goes away completely.
