    Maximum Limit On Credit Redemptions?

I got a few new movies for the holidays, and a few of them came with those "Includes a 4.00 credit to Vudu" offer codes. But when I tried to put some in, I got an error message that says my account had reached the maximum number of credit redemptions allowed. I called the help line and was given some story that this drops off after 30 days and I can use the code. Then I was told by a friend that this wasn't true. You only get so many allowed for the life of your account. A little research through Google showed someone else posting the same thing.

What I don't get is WHY is there even a limit on these? So if I use Vudu for the next 20 years, I can't use anymore of these codes I get? I'm a movie buff, with over 500 titles in my Vudu library. And I tell everybody who buys me a movie to make sure they get the combo pack for the Vudu code. Now I feel like Vudu has screwed me over by saying "thanks for the money. Oh, and forget that credit you earned, too".

Can anybody clarify what is Vudu's policy on something THEY THEMSELVES offer as a promotional tool for using their service, only to prevent you from using it?? Anybody else come across this issue?

You can thank all of the scammers and abusers who steal these codes and sell/trade them on forums.

The limit is imposed on a particular set of credit codes. The first 4 characters determine the "prefix" of Vudu credits. Generally you are allowed only 5 of each prefix. The next time Vudu includes these in or on discs, or gives them away as promos, they will likely be a different prefix and therefore not "maxed" in your account.

Well, I hope Vudu doesn't mind then if I give away the credits I can't use, in an effort to endear myself to friends and promote the business by getting them to buy more product on their accounts.

The limit on code redemption actually encourages people to re-sell them online.

If you can't use them, might as well get some money out of them.

If Vudu removed the per account redemption limits, you'd see a lot less re-selling of codes because people would just use them for themselves.

They get sold online?? That makes no sense.

Yeah, it just seems like a weird thing to do. I got a bunch of movies from different relatives during Christmas. At Thanksgiving, I told people that anyone going to Wal-Mart to get me a movie, make sure it had either the Vudu code, a Vudu credit offer, or both.

I won't sell them online, because that just sounds silly. But I will give them to friends who can use them on their accounts. Then I totally look all caring and stuff. That sounds better.

Does anyone known how often they cycle the credit codes? Valentine's Day and my birthday are coming up.
