It seems that Vudu and FN would need to consider UV imports as "purchases" and store them as such, rather than storing them as "imported from UV"

Can a rep like Felipe weigh in and help us understand what to expect? Whenever UV has disconnected from Vudu, all of the UV movies that were redeemed and porting in from linked Vudu and other providers (Flixster, Sony, Paramount, Fandangonow) would drain from my Vudu account and then also drain from my MA account. This is terrifying as i have about 3000 movies that are at risk if they no longer port into my Vudu account that is linked to my MA. What can we expect? Will all of these titles that are porting in be permanently applied to my Vudu account to preserve my total family library? Should we disconnect from MA just in case?

If we can just get Paramount, MGM, and Lionsgate into MA, I?m cool with it...

My biggest question concerns shared UV libraries - I have a few family members on a shared library to enjoy the collection (it is really are family collection). Are they now going to be screwed? If so, can Vudu up the device limits so we can give access to our main account to those that were on the shared accounts (if we so choose)??

Shared with UV account will end as you know it.

You will have to share via one of the other movie accounts(MA, Visual, Fandango, iTunes, Google Play, etc) IF they have the option OR you will have to share your passcode.

My concern is the UHD titles that I have with Sony that are not populating in VUDU, MA or for that matter in Fandango as UHD. I would hate to loose them, so I am hoping that before they turn the lights off over at UVVU VUDU obtains the rights to those titles in UHD, like MIB, MIB2 & MIB3. A few others as well, then there are all of the TV shows that only link to UVVU, those too concern me as to retention of rights and the ability to view them. Some of them were only redeemable on Flixster, as such they did translate over to VUDU, but are they still going to be resident in VUDU when UVVU turns off the lights? So many questions, and so few specific answers from UVVU or other services. Everything is couched in "Don't Panic" language, well I have a ton invested in this medium/cloud service for entertainment, so I would like more specific answers, please. Thank You.

When they close, my account is connected to 5 other people, and we share movies, will we lose the ability to access each other's purchased movies? That would suck.. we all planned and bought movies for years and built up a great collection..

I would imagine that VUDU will simply obtain a copy of the UV database and rather than query it remotely as it does now, it will simply host it locally or even integrate some of it's tables into its own database.

At any rate, just because they shut down the service does not mean the UV database is going away. We might not be able to access it but VUDU will.

Why would Vudu do this? There is no need. Just extra cost and work? Once UV shuts down as long as your account remains linked, the titles will simply remain as owned in Vudu and just the uv logo will go away. Simple. Any issuees with Sony store , etc can be worked out by the user with that studio.

I'm thinking this would be the easiest way for them to ensure undisrupted service.

Currently the VUDU database communicates with the UV database remotely. If VUDU were to obtain and manage a local copy of that database after UV shuts down then very little would need to change for them programmatically. The VUDU database would continue to communicate with the UV database (local copy now owned and hosted by VUDU) but rather than doing it across networks it would just do it all locally.

Of course a few cosmetic changes would need to take place, such as removing the UV logo from their site and such but nothing that would require a whole rewrite of their system. And in terms of cost, all it would take is just server space.

This may be a good thing if they had the database local. How many times has some issue happened and every UV movie randomly become unlinked. This just happened 2 months ago and was a big PITA. And ended up changing the purchase date on every movie when they finally resolved it.
