    UV Library Share Question

    With UV closing in a few months there are going to be a lot of questions. One question, in particular, I have is: What will happen with this feature to those that still have libraries linked? I'd hate to lose some movies that my friends may have purchased and I didn't, and vice versa.

    I would like to know this as well.. Once it closes, does it mean whatever I purchased, or my friend's purchased, won't be accessible to each other any more?

      This feature was one of the few reasons why I resisted going with MA. If there wasn't a UV logo I didn't buy the movie.

        As big a deal as Disney's Movies Anywhere has become, it doesn't offer anything in regards to TV shows, so I'm sad to see UV go away. It's a loss for consumers who wanted some sense of "ownership" of digital media, but it's also a hard dose of reality.

          I don't think TV shows will ever be supported by Movies Anywhere. Besides family sharing, support of TV shows was the biggest thing UV had going for it, but now that Disney's MA has effectively killed off UV, they have no reason to add that kind of support.

          And with Disney+ on the way, it is very unlikely that they ever will as they will want all Disney and Fox shows to be exclusive to their service.

            my guess in since all our subs have their own UV logins and if they are linked to Vudu they will be just fine. For example my UV login is linked to Vudu, FN, and Paramount where one of my subs is only linked to Vudu so it has it own uniqueness.

                I would like an official response on this because I don't want to loose any movies and my linked family members don't either.This feature is what got us all into digital collecting.

                      In the past UV accounts would come unlinked from our Vudu accounts from time to time because of technical reasons, what if this happens after UV is shut down?

                        Unless Vudu clearly states otherwise, assume that sharing will stop.

                        Shared libraries were always akin to sharing a disc. There was only one license. UV simply allowed multiple people to access that license.

                        Unless Vudu wants to pay the studios for multiple extra copies of movie licenses, only one person (the library owner) is likely to keep said licenses when UV shuts down.

                          I dunno. If you look at your MA libraries, if the studio has membership in both, even if the title was just shared, you still have the title. I was shared the Nightmare on Elm Street movies and Dunkirk, and since they are in my MA library, I can't imagine them going away suddenly. But I guess we'll see. I do know that once UV is over and I am just buying for me, I will be purchasing far fewer films.

                            We need to know if our shared accounts will continue to share our UV movies and tv shows with each other so we can make informed decisions about future purchases or if we even want to continue with digital at all. Vudu has to know by now and they need to let us know now. I continue to be shocked with how the studios and retailers keep the digital movie business such an unstable mess compared with how digital music is handled.
