    Discount Codes - 20% & $5 - Not Vudu

I'd love to see Vudu being more competitive and offering more discounts.

Seemingly weekly I get offered (elsewhere) 20% off, get $5 discount codes, 50% off recent (not new) 4K titles. Typically these 20% and $5 off can even be used on pre-orders. Things like this rarely come along with Vudu where maybe it's a $2 or $3 discount, if even at all and often has too many restrictions on how it can be used.

It's hard to support Vudu when pricing is so different to other places.

Please offer a more competitive pricing.

Not saying there aren't any. But many of them, free movies and tv for example don't really generate much if any revenue and can be taken advantage of my anyone even if they don't purchase through Vudu.

Generating more percent profit and dollar profit would be of key importance. Being price competitive allows them to keep the sales potentially lost to elsewhere.

What are are the other benefits you're thinking of.

Right now it's the only link between UV and MA which is a pretty big deal to me. I would much rather spend more money at VUDU even if a title is available for cheaper at a competitor as long as I can get both MA and UV license. This won't matter too much after July 31, but for now it's still a big deal.

Also, it is one of the few places where you can purchase an upgrade for a movie. You still have to pay full price but at least you can still purchase it. At other vendors if you already own HD they won't let you buy UHD. Or worse, if you only own SD they won't let you purchase HD or UHD. You're basically stuck with the quality you first purchased. For example, at the moment I really wish I could buy Happy Death Day over at FandangoNow since UHD is on sale for $5 but since I already own it on HD I am unable to make the purchase.

And VUDU is the only place I know of where you can get Disc + Digital. Where else can you get digital copy as soon as it's available plus the physical copy in your mailbox weeks later when it's released? In the case of Justice League, the digital copy was available like two months before the physical release. And usually if it's for brand new titles they do free shipping. Right now I'm just waiting because as soon as midnight hits I'm going to be all over the Disc + Digital copy of Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

And of course it is also the last place that allows you to do Disc-to-Digital. As someone who owns an extensive library of old DVDs and blu-rays, this has been a tremendous boon.

And I use it for those benefits not available elsewhere. But when I can get the same thing elsewhere at a substantial discount and it's still added to Vudu from elsewhere I'll get it there. Like you said you would buy Happy Death Day in UHD for $5 at Fandango Now if they would let you. So you already feel similar, if Vudu offered it for $5 as well you would prob have bought it by now. That's all I'm asking for.

BD combos are often the same price at relators and when not they often price match. When I want something same day and Best Buy is more expensive, I put in a order to pick up at store, call the price match phone number, and they match to Amazon for me each and every time. If Vudu offered that same title on D+D for the same price, and without the high shipping price (per title) I would order from them.

The issue of all the retailers, except Vudu, not allowing us to purchase an upgrade if we so choose is the most perplexing of all. Why wouldn't they want us to give them more of our money? I don't get it.

I actually talked to several different Fandango staff today via email, live chat, and phone.

The consistent answer (if true) is that if the SD/HD was purchased from Fandango now then they will allow you to purchase an update to HD/UHD. If this can be done though their website I don?t know. But with live chat and phone they did say they could help me with the purchase of the replacement higher quality purchase. Only to have them come back to state it was purchased at another vendor and I would have to deal with them.

Likewise there has been some rare occasions even with Vudu where I?ve tried to redeem a UHD code when I owned the HD version already. In that case it stated that I couldn?t redeem it since I already owned it. In those (RARE) casss I contacted Vudu and had them delete the HD rights from my account and then I was able to add the UHD rights code to my account. Vudu obviously has a workaround / fix so this is not necessary, in most cases.

While cumbersome then then it would possible to contact Vudu and have them delete the HD rights and then purchase the UHD at Fandango NOW.

Not saying that?s what anyone should do but if it?s an expansive title that you really want and Fandango NOW has it for a good discount maybe it?s eorth a one off.

FandangoNow used to offer 30% off which I used on MA titles to add to Vudu.

Haven't seen anything close since Fandango bought out Vudu.

I'd love to see when other providers have a movie that is $4.99 but still over $10 on Vudu, to be discounted to compete with others. I've actually asked this before. The answer was the studios make those decisions, or don't allow them to discount. I find that suspect the studios would allow every provider to discount a movie, then refuse Vudu to allow the same discount... Who knows.

Just an observation, but there are lots of times when I'll see a title discounted at another provider (but not on Vudu), and the following week, the same title is discounted at Vudu, and back up to normal price at the other provider. A week after that, it's discounted at a 3rd provider, and full price on Vudu and other providers.

I think the studios rotate some discounts across providers at different times.

Unlike Amazon which seems to hardly have sales on digital video titles. And if they do it’s not the easiest thing to find the the Sat 4K MA sale titles.
