    Upgrade HDX to 4K?

Do you think we will ever have the opportunity to upgrade movies in our libraries from HDX to UHD? Just realized I've got about 30 movies in my library that are HDX, but are available in UHD (4K). I just hope we have the option sometime soon, because I can't see too many people paying $15-$30 just to upgrade. Even if it was just $2-$3 for reach upgrade, vudu stands to make lots of money.

It's probably not up to Vudu but up to the studios themselves on this issue?

    232 UHD
    821 HDX
    3 SD

I agree. This is something studio should allow. No one is going to pay top dollar for an HDX then the same price (or more for UHD when it gets added) unless they love the movie. I know I wouldn't. I normally just rebuy the 4K if I know the code will redeem in 4K, then sell off the disc in a local group.

I would probably pay around 5.00 per film to upgrade my movies

        Harry Potter x7
        LOTR x3
        Hobbit x3
        E.T.
        MCU franchise x 7
        Back to the Future x3
        Mission Impossible x5
        Jurassic Park x3
        Superman x3
        MiB x3
        007 x10
        Batman x3

That's about 50 movies for me, so about $250 and that's just for starters.

And there's another 50 movies that I would upgrade from SD to HD for $5 each.

Considering that both iTunes as well as Google Play automatically upgrade HD purchases to UHD, I would hope that VUDU has something similar in mind. If not for free then for a moderate upgrade fee. But expecting us to pay "full price" for a UHD version of a title we already have in HDX, is pretty silly.

I'm not optimistic about it. To me it always seemed like a way to get people over to streaming from physical. Once they have people locked over on streaming there's no need to keep giving away the farm.

I also noticed that a larger number of 4K UHD movies aren't even coming out on disc but only streaming, and even Wal-Mart has been selling Disney BD titles (4K so far uneffected) without any digital. So the days of getting a disc and then using the code to get a free streaming copy are slipping away.

Didn't Disney stop providing codes in their releases from Walmart? I might be thinking of something else, but I thought I read they were included in releases, except for ones shipped to Walmart...

Disney still includes streaming codes in (most) BD & UHD releases to retailers besides Walmart.

For Walmart Disney is not (in most cases) providing codes for BD releases but currently still is for UHD releases.

I knew it was something like that... so much confusion when these studios try to change things up.
