4k on Windows 10 with AMD Processor

Hi, I see Intel processors mentioned in the requirements for Windows 4k but what about AMD? In particular will a Ryen processor work? I have a 2600. Thank you,

Sorry, can't really say on any specific combination of hardware that will support UHD on Windows 10, since there are so many combinations. Basically either the CPU or GPU (whichever is being used to decode the video) needs to support PlayReady SL3000 DRM. If the OS reports to our app that it is supported, UHD is supported.

I know many recent PCs with Intel CPUs and/or some Nvidia GPUs support it. Beyond that, you'd have to check with the system manufacturer, etc.

Thanks for sending that test link. From what I can see I am getting a not available for the DRM. I tried on Chrome - not sure if it is browser dependent.

Jake - what does Vudu use to display the video on the Windows 10 app - the cpu or GPU? Or is there a way to control that?

As far as I know only Edge browser would support PlayReady on Windows 10 - Chrome will definitely not play UHD and does not use PlayReady.

The Windows 10 app is based on Edge, so if Edge says it is supported that would be a good sign. And the app does not directly control what is used to decode/display video - it's up to the OS. Generally it will be a "GPU", but in many cases the GPU is part of the Intel CPU/chipset.

I tried on Edge and attached the results - looks like I am Playready capable yes? The two links that lead to test demos are giving me 404 page errors on Edge.

If it?s anything like UHD Blu-Ray, you need a recent intel processor and board and use the onboard video. There?s a DRM chain almost nothing else supoorts

This is actually the current test page for Playready where the links all work:

                        This page has samples: http://playready.azurewebsites.net/Home/PR30Samples

When I click on the 'clear' links they play. The others say 'Invalid Source'. Do the clear files not contain Playready code?
