    Over the 500 Mark

I just checked my account and counted how many movies/tv shows we have rented or purchased since October 2007. It turns out it's 540, which turns out to be about 9 a week. I knew we watched a lot but I didn't realize it was that much. I guess the good news is that we continue to provide a healthy revenue stream for Vudu. Maybe I should propose some "frequent flyer" type of program.

Well 1 day, I watched all 13 episodes of the first season of Chuck. Yesterday, my wife and I watched different movies in the afternoon. Then I watched one with the kids. Then my wife and I watched different movies again in the evening (that was 5 movies). Tonight my wife and I are watching one together so it will only be 1 for today.

Are those ALL rentals? regardless, that is still ALOT. :-)

You got me curious as well, so currently I'm averaging about almost 6 a week. However, 51% of my total transactions since I started have been purchases.

Sure would be nice to have a "frequent movie" rental program, even theaters do it, so come on VUDU...where is my free VUDU mug!

Of that, 108 were puchases. The others were rentals. Most of the purchases were TV shows or movies that we have subsequently deleted. There would have been 0 purchase if everything was rentable. This is my biggest wish for Vudu in the future.

Well I definitely agree with you that I'd like to see everything rentable, as as long as everything is also purchasable at some point as well. Although, I'm fine with making movies rentable a higher priority for now. As long as VUDU is fine with the fact that if they don't offer it for purchase and I want it, that I'll end up giving my money to those who offer the movie in Blu-Ray.

Well they need to have an external storage solution before you can be really happy with the purchase side of thing. I agree that it would be much better if everything was available for both rental and purchase.

BTW, I'm also ok if purchase is made available first if there is a "Rent On" date posted at the same time. That way we can decide if we really want to spend the extra bucks to see it early, or just wait until the rental date. Hopefully some day we won't even have to discuss this aspect of things.

That's why I picked up an XL, I'm impatient.

Speaking of storage solutions, one thing I'd like to see is a way to backup the local HDD in its entirety, in an encrypted form, to an external solution, so that in the case of failure, all your settings, wishlist, etc will be saved and can be reloaded to not only cut down on having to re-download ALL the trailers, but also, all the placards, the first 30 seconds of all the movies, etc. That way VUDU could just replace the HDD, and then via the web or the box itself, initiate a restore.

                  I'm with you. I watch 2-3 a day. I'm very lonely.

                      That's a very reasonable/healthy number. It's more than 10 a month.

Wow! I just assumed it was more than a year. I didn't look closely at the year. Think you will keep it up?

Probably not at that rate. About half of those are TV episodes, so unless that expands...

I like having the TV episodes on there almost more than having movies, since it's easy to just pull them up & watch one or a few, depending on how much time I have. I already had the DVDs for two of the seasons I bought, but I just like the convenience and time it saves to have them on the vudu, instead.
