Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

I got a 55inch OLED model EF9500 and still can't watch UHD movies. I just went thru my TV settings and apparently I'm running WebOS 2.2.1, but I don't see any new versions on lg website for my model!! Anybody else have this model?

Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

My 4K Sharp TV came pre-loaded with VUDU and come to find out the VUDU app does not support 4K?!? Why would you even think of taking the time to load the app on a 4K TV if it doesn't play 4K movies?!? Does VUDU plan on updating the app anytime soon? Just bought my first 4K movie too, what a waste of money.

Also, the XBOX One S will be 4K compatible, does VUDU have any plans on having their app be able to have 4K play back on the new XBOX One S? Or will they fall behind on that as well?

Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

My new LG 65UH8500 65" 4K Ultra HD (2016) "does" support Vudu UHD 4K.
And when playing some of the vudu 4K films, TV says "DOLBY VISION" and something like "ATMOS" (you get the idea) and also shows it is playing in UHD (naturally).

So, the Vudu app on the LG 65UH8500 65" Ultra HD TV supports Vudu UHD. At least on mine.
When I started the app for the first time on the TV, it asked to first do an update.
I let the Vudu app do its update, so I think that brought it up to the new Vudu standard.
Now I wish I had not bought the 4K Roku. The Vudu app on the LG TV does much more UHD wise than going thru the Roku.
But then again, one never knows when Vudu was actually going to support Vudu UHD on the LG TV.

Personally, I don't think DOLBY VISION makes that much of a difference.
It is more like a filter that smooths out the brightness & contrast levels.

For some reason, the Vudu app on the LG does not allow the 2-minute preview on Vudu UHD films.
        No 2-minute option.
Unless Vudu hid that option somewhere when inquiring on the UHD film?
All I see are the options to rent, buy or wish list.
The 4K Roku allows the 2-minute preview.
I also noticed on the Roku, some of the newer Vudu UHD releases do not have that 2-minute preview showing as an option.
I sure hope Vudu is not going to remove that 2-minute preview feature.
2 minutes isn't much but its better than nothing.

Just bought a VIZIO 2016 Smartcast P-Series 4K TV and a UHD movie in the Vudu app, and UHD isn't available as an option for streaming or download when casting to the display. I can start the cast in HDX and then enter the quality menu to change the quality to UHD in the app, but when I do, I get a generic error message and casting stops altogether. What do I need to watch UHD content from Vudu on this display?

It's weird, I got the P55 and about a week ago UHD was working for me. Now it isn't. I'm upset I spent the money on a movie only to have it yanked out from under me like this.

Multiple Google Play Reviews are showing that the newest VUDU App update might have broken UHD content streaming. I reached out to VUDU customer service, who suggested to rollback to the older VUDU app version. However, no instructions or updates were provided since July 3rd, 2016. I hope this issue gets fixed soon on VUDU's end.

Will Sony 4K TVs ever be added for the UHD compatible app? Seems like no at this point.

I just watched a good bit of Pacific Rim UHD on the Shield set to 4k/24 ycbcr 444. Holy crap that looks good.

I assume, when looking at the signal bars, those tell you how low before you drop to the lower level? For example when watching PR, they stayed at 3 or 4 bars, but if it would have dropped to 1, or gotten worse, that would have bumped me to HDX?

I have a 2016 LG OLED (OLED65B6P) and was disappointed that when I watch trailers for UHD movies, they play in SD and don't seem to increase in quality throughout. I have a 100mbps FiOS connection and 4K plays fine in the netflix & youtube apps on the TV. Should the trailers play in UHD? It seems pretty lame that they would only play in SD.

Need to get on the ball and support one of the biggest brands "Samsung"

I have the same TV and I also would like to see support of 4k movies on Samsung 4k TV's. Also I would love to see a Application for Dish Network's Hopper 3 which is also a 4k box. They have netflix app but I would love to see VUDU app for the Dish network receiver.
