This list seems outdated! I have a Samsung 4K UHD 70" - I just rented Batman v Superman in UHD and it is showing as HDX. Samsung is very update to date and very compatible in this technology. Why isn't this on the list?

It was showing HDX, which is a tier below UHD, because you were not getting UHD even though your rented it. Therefore your display should not be on the list.

        Hello red0764

The Samsung device does not support VUDU UHD. It will in the future as we are working with Samsung to implement the feature.

How did you buy the title in UHD? Was it from VUDU.com? The Samsung UI does not give you the option to purchase content in UHD.

        Thanks,
        Tam

If I am going to rent a streaming movie, it isn't going to be HDX because it doesnt look great anymore compared to what you have. Ill drive to redbox and spend $2.

I'd also hope my Xbone S gets a Vudu UHD app soon.
Netflix, like Vudu and Amazon, their UHD streaming is around 16mb/s. That gives you quality similar to what you see on a 1080P BD. So while it is an improvement over their 1080P streaming, it only allows them to be on par with a 1080P Blu-ray Disc. It's HDr that has the biggest improvement visually.

of course the best quality for UHD/HDR is from a UHD BD.

My response was to you saying the improvement would not be worth it (which I bolded). I fully understand HDR and disagreed with your statement. I dont need a lesson in UHD tech specs.

Saying that the bitrate increase that allows streaming PQ close to blu-ray is not worth it, is pretty foolish. Everyone can benefit from that regardless of HDR. HDX looks pretty bad on my 65" compared to what Netflix is offering now at 2160p (non HDR content). So Id love to have UHD Vudu options on my Xbox.

I think it is going to be a while before streaming will surpass physical media. Internet speeds will have to be sky high to see visuals as good as a UHD BD. In a way I am happy that vudu has dragged their heals on getting UHD on my tv. I now own 4 movies on UHD blu ray, and don't know if I will ever go back to vudu for new movie releases unless they are not going to be released on UHD.

Which Samsung devices will support it? I have the 65JS9500 2015 model TV and the K8500 UHD player. Will either one get VUDU UHD? And will you offer HDR support since neither the TV nor the player can do Dolby Vision?

I would love to know this answer as well! I have the same TV and have found my 4K and especially HDR options lacking. VUDU, you are losing money by not having 4K HRD10 options on Samsung and other TVs. I'm ready to spend! Take my money!

                    Hello Adam_ME

The Samsung 2016 TVs will support UHD. I believe them model includes a "K". There are no plans to support the K8500BD

                    Thanks,

Well that sucks then if there are no plans to support the K8500 UHD BD player.

Internet speeds are already there for many people. Unfortunately though, for most it is not. I've had 150Mb/s speeds from FiOS for over four years now. Which is more than fast enough for the bitrates that UHD BDs have.

What about the 2015 Samsung TVs? That's gonna be a real shame if the JS9500 which is their flagship series from 2015 is passed over.

I run 100Mb/s, which comes at a cost of about $100 per month. The US has average internet speeds of 12-15 Mb/s, and the reason is the internet providers charge too damn much. I am looking forward to what google may do to help the industry. Google fiber, advertises speeds of 1 Gb/s for $70 per month.

As a side note....I could barely run HDX movies off of 40 Mb/s internet. I don't see how Vudu can claim 25 is good enough for UHD.

I currently have 20 Mb/s Internet and I stream HDX movies all day long with no issues (as well as Amazon Ultra HD). I also have a friend with same provider and speed (averaging between 18-21 Mb/s) getting VUDU UHD streaming with no errors.

I also can't wait for Google fiber. I am so tired of the overpriced plans and stupid data caps..
