I also can't wait for Google fiber. I am so tired of the overpriced plans and stupid data caps..
By the time Google fiber comes to my town, I'll be long gone. I can't even get Verizon in my neighborhood. It's all about the almighty dollar here as to who will provide the infrastructure. Comcast therefore is my only choice.

      Hello Adam_me

Unfortunately, there are no plans to support the Samsung 2015 TVs. This is a limitation on Samsung side. If Samsung can work around the security requirement necessary for VUDU UHD than we can support the Samsung 2015 TVs.

The same thing goes for the 2016 Samsung BD.

      Thanks,

If we could download to a device with built in harddrive like the next PS4 download speeds would not be an issue.
We could even have higher bitrates for downloads.
The last device that allowed downloads was I believe the PS3 slim?

Hi I have a LG 43UH6100 and can get HD to stream but thought I'd be able to get UHD to work with the built-in vudu app? Is this not the case with this tv? thanks

I am looking forward to what google may do to help the industry. Google fiber, advertises speeds of 1 Gb/s for $70 per month.

As a side note....I could barely run HDX movies off of 40 Mb/s internet. I don't see how Vudu can claim 25 is good enough for UHD.
Because the bitrate averages around 16Mb/s for UHD content. Just like the other streaming services UHD content.

I would LOVE this. I used to download VUDU to my PS3 all of the time. So much so, that I almost kept my ps3 around just for doing this. I also would feel like I actually OWNED the movie, and didn't need internet to watch it. Back when I had Century Link 40 MB/S internet, I couldn't stream HDX with my tv, or Xbox one wired in to the router. Century link was so unreliable I stopped watching Vudu for 3 months until i got a different provider.

If I could actually download the copies of movies to a large hard drive, I would be in heaven. I have over 3 TBs available with my Xbox One S and an external HD, and would love to download several movies to this. Also wondering why they haven't come up with a system that could download ahead of the stream, to account for dips in the service? Seems like a no brainer when it comes to the large bit rates needed for UHD.

Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

As quite a few people from vudu frequent this forum maybe one of them could comment on the whole download situation.

Has it been a feature that has not been requested that much?
                Are there copyright issues?
Is it that the studios don't like it?

I think that if there was an option to get a higher bitrate via download there would be a lot of interest and also UHD should reinvigorate that interest as many customers still seem to have issues achieving the necessary speed and also to achieve it long enough to watch a whole movie that way.
Downloading selected movies will also help with mulitple viewings for people who do not have the luxury to generate as much traffic as they like.

Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

I think they need to update the Vudu app for Xbox One.

Especially now that the Xbox One S is out (which I picked up because I have a 4K tv). UHD support obviously, but while they're at it I REALLY wish they would change the navigation, too.

It's obnoxious when you own over 200 movies but the only way to browse them on the XB1 app is to view just one single row of movies that scroll left-right and are sorted only by purchase date. Yuck!

If they could go to something more like the Vudu app on Sony Android TVs, I think that'd be ideal. It's rows and columns, it's sort-able, and it supports UHD.

Download has been supported since the original VUDU box, and is enabled on devices that properly support it. However, it's up to the device manufacturer to allow and add that support. There aren't many living room devices with large HDDs and even fewer that will support downloads to them (or to an external disk).

For example, Sony allows arbitrary download sizes for the PS3 so it was supported. The PS4 only allows < 2GB total per app, which is not nearly enough to download even 1 HD movie. The Xbox hasn't supported large downloads at all, but we are hoping they will change that policy with Windows 10 (UWP) apps.

was going to buy a uhd movie and i get this: Note: Viewing this title on PC is currently supported in HDX only.

why are pcs not supported for anything with this service?
no uhd, even tho i have the 4k monitor
no 3d even tho i can easily play the 3d blu rays on the pc and have the hardware to display/view 3d video

just feels like vudu doesnt want my buisness.

the title was batman v superman uhd incase that matters.

                        You must be new here.

Vudu has no reason of their own to restrict anything. Why would they? The more latitude they allow you, the more sales they would make. These kinds of restrictions are part of their contracts with (some of) the content owners. Sometimes we say "studios", but the studio or business unit that put out the film and whose logo appears at the beginning does NOT own the digital distribution rights.

Yes, we'd like Vudu to push for more latitude, and they may, but they also rely on the studios for ALL of their sales, so they can't exactly take a hard line. And even if it's just one smaller studio, sure, Vudu's business doesn't rely on the handful of movies that that one business unit distributes, but if other streaming providers have those movies and Vudu doesn't, that's a problem for Vudu. So it's understandable that they'd rather offer content with whatever restrictions they have to abide by than not offer that content at all.

It's mostly about bug fixes and the level of DRM supported by the platform - there is work needed on the OS/firmware side to support VUDU UHD content, and that's up to LG to decide if it will be done. VUDU of course would be happy to see UHD supported on all 2015+ TVs.

or do i have to buy a tv
i already added the money to my account for the UHD video i wanted to buy so might as well do what it takes to get the content to play on my pc.

First, will VUDU on Sony TVs ever support UHD? Specifically the X850B. I would love to watch the movies I already own in UHD on VUDU in addition to renting some occasionally. I searched the thread but couldn't find a response about Sony TVs.

Second, will the VUDU app for the PS4 PRO support UHD?

                                Thanks.
