    Holy cow! Did NOT even think to try Google Play. Is this common knowledge? I was using the Vudu app and Movies Anywhere to cast to CCU but didn't know I could do so from Google Play app. It definitely does work now and I'm getting a Hdr picture! Thanks!

      If that?s the case, the current DV videos on Vudu might need to be re-encoded to use the new ?low latency? Sony Dolby Vision profile as apparently the TV?s CPU is fast enough to decode the normal Dolby Vision profile in real time. I?m hoping that?s not the case since it would mean all the existing DV videos wouldn?t work.

        I wouldn't think the profile has anything to do with the encodes, considering that Netflix and Amazon internal apps on the Sony's work with DV just fine. I think it's all about what is processing the data. But then again.....what the hell do I know

        As one person on the BR forum put it:
        Sony's low latency mode has several advantages and I hope more DV capable devices enable the features that this faster processing offers. Sony's ?low latency mode? protocol of Dolby Vision's HDR requires the DV source device to do more of the DV video processing heavy lifting.
        Sony still has some explaining to do.

            I just bought a Sony Bravia 4K HDR tv, but unbeknownst to me, Vudu for some reason doesn?t support 4K HDR playback on Sony TV?s? This is very disappointing considering my entire movie collection is through Vudu. Does anyone know of a way that I can play my movies in 4K HDR still? Or is there any word on when an update that would add support will be released? Any help is appreciated.

              I've got a Sony Bravia too and use the TV's Google Play app to watch many of the 4K+HDR titles the Vudu app is unable to. I use the Sony Ultra app to watch Sony 4K. I hope Vudu updates its app soon as it still has many titles not available in 4K via the other apps.

                Any word on the Sony Vudu update with dolby vision compatibility? Streaming clearly works on the Sonys fine as Amazon and Netflix have no problems, just need the Vudu app to be updated. Please Vudu, we're dealing with enough from Sony themselves with the HDMI issue, any tiny bit of an update would be fantastic right about now.

                  I second that....Vudu just sent me a new email touting a new look website with better interface and feature but our Sony (A1E and newer ) Vudu app are still stuck in 2010....Please Vudu update your Sony app with Dolby Vision/HDR support....Like you guys said in your own email...New Year,New Look...

                      I can only imagine if for example Jake said "in a month" and a month later it does not happen, you would be back on this forum complaining that Jake lied. Since Sony has "screwed" over its users previously, I'd voice my concerns to them. It's them who can ultimately control what happens on their devices.

                        I have a Sony UHD TV and decided to solve this problem by getting a Roku Ultra. I am very happy that I did because not only am I enjoying Vudu 4K HDR movies, but the Roku OS is more responsive and reliable then Android TV. If you don't want to get the Ultra, the Streaming Stick+ is another option and it is a very good value.

                          Actually it was Dolby that screwed up and not Sony. Sony has the latest version of the DV codec which is SW base and not on a chip/cpu. Dolby has admitted to issues that they needed to fix in DV. Sony's android app streams DV via Netflix and some Amazon Prime.

                          In January, 2018, we released a software update to enable Dolby Vision on select TV models (series: Z9D, A1E, X930E, X940E). After the TV receives the software update, devices with Dolby Vision playback (such as streaming media players and UHD Blu-Ray players) that are connected to the TV by HDMI will also require a software update to support Dolby Vision playback from the device. For more information on the timing of a software update for your device, please contact the player device manufacturer.

                          Now for some reason I can no longer find DV movies in the search page on VUDU. All I see is UHD, HDX, etc. But no HDR nor DV listed. Add one more device the apple 4K TV has the DV update from Dolby and as a Sony A1E owner I can confirm that as well. Netflix works in DV but not VUDU nor Amazon Prime on the A4KTV. ???

                            Roku doesn?t support Dolby Vision, though the Vudu app on it does support HDR10 and 4K. Because it lacks DV support though and most Vudu HDR titles don?t yet support HDR10, most HDR titles on Vudu play back in SDR.

                            Apple TV 4K as of tvOS 11.3 will support Dolby Vision on Sony TVs, but like the Vudu app on the TV itself, the Vudu app on the Apple TV 4K doesn?t support 4K or HDR.

                                Why isn't the compatible device list getting continually updated to add more devices?

                                I think everybody should be following Netflix as the standard. If Netflix updated their app on some device to support 4K and HDR, than so should all the other players in the market.

                                For myself, I am waiting for Vudu to start working on either my Sony 65" OLED 4K HDR TV or the PS4 Pro. In meantime, I am sticking to using Google Play (which does support 4K HDR on my Sony TV) and the movies I buy are Movies Anywhere so it doesn't matter where I buy, I play on whatever player has my devices supported.
