Does the Xbox one S show that vudu is playing UHD? I'm only getting the option for HDX and SD. Tryinto plyit on a Samsung 4k. No clue how to make this work so any help would be awesome.

        Thanks.

Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

So, I have a serious question and I'm not trying to troll. I have a LG 55UB8200, which is a 4k tv bought in early 2015. I am easily able to view 4k content on Netflix, Youtube, etc via the tv. I also have a Playstation Pro, which is also capable of 4k streaming, and allows the same. I even have a PC that can play 4k anywhere but Vudu. While I love the service offered by Vudu, the fact that I can't use the 4k content I've purchased is ridiculous. So the question as it stands is, why can I play 4k content from everywhere except Vudu? I mean, at the least I should be able to download the 4k content and play it. I don't care if they give me some inane message of "Downloading and attempting to play this content is at your own risk" nonsense. I'm fine with that. It just makes zero sense to me that I can watch 4k content streaming from everywhere but Vudu.

I cannot find any announcement indicating Vudu plans to support HDR 10 on any stand alone devices (STB's).

As long as the device can display HDR10, then as soon as Vudu enabled it we should get the HDR stream.

That's what I mean: I cannot find any confirmation that Vudu is planning to enable HDR10 on any stand alone set top boxes or UHD players.

I agree that *IF* they do so, then there is a large ecosystem of displays that can understand HDR10.

I don't believe I've ever seen anything official from Vudu, just the Forbes article about it:

Yes, Jake (a Vudu engineer) has indicated that they plan on supporting HDR-10 but they don't have a specified time-frame.

                    48 UHD
                    775 HDX
                    2 SD

Extremely large since the vast majority of HDR capable displays are HDR10 only.

Good point. In fact, near as I can tell, there is no display that can only understand DV. I guess there was a professional monitor like that, and an early Vizio, but now they are updated and just like every other HDR display, they can understand HDR10.

If you play A dolby vision title from VUDU on the chromecast, will it display HDR on an HDR10 enabled TV? I have a 2017 Sony Bravia, so it hasn't received its dolbyvision update yet.

No, the TV must support Dolby Vision. In fact, if the Ultra is plugged into your receiver (to get better audio, for example) the receiver must ALSO support Dolby Vision, and very very few do.
