Well to me it looks like they are sending the HDR flag with an 8 bit image. So not ready for prime time yet, but I am thrilled they are working on it.

Note that I experienced a similar situation and symptoms to what you describe (DoVi signal showing up as HDR10, poor HDR PQ) with the CCU and my LG B6P before the update that fixed DoVi for LGs. So what you're seeing may just be a signaling issue between the CCU and your TV rather than an indication that VUDU is testing HDR10. I hope I'm wrong, though, because it would be nice to see some progress on HDR10 from VUDU.

        Sounds very probable to me.

Some TVs make you explicitly turn on support for "Wide Color". Here's a quick guide for a few popular models, you may want to check this on your TV:

Wide Color is on. No problem with HDR from other services. Don't know if you are doing HDR10 but all my UHD movies are switching on the Samsung HDR (Chromecast Ultra only) and the highlights are crushed and clipped.

Currently all VUDU UHD is Dolby Vision, but it is backwards compatible with HEVC Main10 SDR. It sounds like the Chromecast Ultra firmware is incorrectly signaling the Samsung TV that the content is HDR10 when it's not (and/or passing Dolby Vision to Samsung, which it doesn't support).

Thanks for the Update Jake. Now the $1,000,000 question - when do you think Vudu will start to roll out HDR10?

                  I agree.

                  1. Samsung has not had a firmware update recently. (SEK-3500)

                  2. Anomaly started happening this weekend. Chromecast (Beta) may have updated.

I turned off "Wide Color". Picture was normal color space as expected. Turned "Wide" back on and - messed up. So Samsung is getting some "header" info from somewhere.

Roku Ultra is not reproducing the anomaly. So the problem is not Vudu or Samsung.

Chromecast Ultra Beta is the problem.

Or you could be secretly be testing HDR10+ !

I own a E65-E0 65 inch 4k Vizio tv with chromecast built in and internet is 15D/5U. Any idea when or if the compatible devices list will included my Vizio?

I think that the Chromecast Ultra can now view Vudu Dolby Vision content so this part of the list should be updated.

It's been like 8 months since they said 2016 Samsung 4K TV's would have UHD support by the end of 2016. I gave up on buying digital content weekly through Vudu because of it. I mean, why invest in a company that can't keep their word at least within a reasonable amount of time?

This is happening to me too, with The Great Wall UHD. When hit play, it flips on HDR and looks awful. Chromecast Ultra -> Yamaha AVR -> LG TV

                              Hello,

There is hope for SAMSUNG TV users and VUDU UHD...

I just purchased a new SAMSUNG TV. My first SAMSUNG UHD TV. MUCH BETTER than VIZIO!! I'm blown away by the quality of the picture and the excellent performance of the apps, menus and audio.

I discovered that I CAN VIEW VUDU UHD on my SAMSUNG TV by way of my ROKU 4. A pleasant surprise to say the least as I own more than 900 digital copies on VUDU and quite a few UHD. I haven't tested my ULTRA yet but I'm sure it and the PREMIERE will work the same. Hope this info helps as the original post is a bit fuzzy when it mentions 4K ROKU BOXES/with a compatible TV. Led me to believe for months it had to be a VIZIO OR LG 4K TV connected to the ROKU BOX. Not so.

                              Happy viewing. Sandra

This is still broken. I am unable to watch my UHD titles on VUDU with the Chromecast Ultra.
