The picture was blown out. I had to switch to the Vivid setting to watch it. At least I got a 4K picture. After researching the HDR10 verses Dolby Vision, I think I know what the problem is. VUDU is not trying to send a HDR10 signal. Since Dolby Vision is a higher version of HDR it is causing the Samsung and Sony sets to freak out. HDR10 sends a signal/setting once to set the video controls. Dolby Vision sends a constant stream of HDR controls to constantly change the settings from scene to scene. Samsung and Sony don't have the hardware/software to handle this data traffic, so the resulting terrible video output. Rumor has it that Sony will do a software update to Dolby Vision. Samsung looks out of luck so far!
Well add LG to the list, because I have an LG and I'm experiencing this terrible HDR problem. Dolby Vision never gets triggered on my TV, just HDR10.

Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

Previously I was using the widget version 6.0.0 (170994) which did not allow UHD and Dolby Atmos on my Samsung UN65KS9000FXZA TV connected to my Samsung HW-850 Sound-Bar.

As of 06/12/2017 my Samsung KS now pays "4K Ultra HD" but for "playback only". In other words, I can't output Dolby Atmos through my sound bar. I am happy for the 4K, but I want my cake and my cookies too.

4K UHD now works with widget version 6.1.7 (185585)

When will we be able to payback 4K UHD with Dolby Atmos audio concurrently?

No love for the KU. That sucks. Smasung's 4k player is 199 at Best Buy. I think I may pick that up and stop buying from vudu. I bought $700 worth of HDX versions of stuff hoping to keep it all on vudu... but I think I'm done.

LG?s UP970, a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player with Dolby Vision is only $50 more. I already have the Samsung 4K player or I would definitely go for the LG now!

New to this thread. I do not own a 4k UHD television. I do however have a 4k UHD laptop, running 7th gen Intel CPU and GTX 10 series GPU. Is there any chance VUDU will support 4k UHD for PC users who only have UHD access via PC?

I'm hoping there's 4K + HDR playback support for my Sony OLED (A1E) it has the LG OLED panel and Dolby Vision.

Last night I tried this on my KS9000 and man was everything pixelated. Even HDX titles. I switched between wireless and wired and neither worked. Granted I don't usually use app on my Samsung - but it seems at least last night the app was having issues.

I find it curious that the list of compatible devices was not updated to include the Samsung UHD series since I just got an eMail co-advertising with Samsung and VUDU. That is if it is actually HDR content and what devices is Samsung co-advertising? Since I was told by VUDU that under no terms were they doing anything but DV.

The best way to test HDR fare is YouTube and Amazon. At least with Amazon it shows a banner that you are watching HDR and the sets adjust the settings that lets you know that you are watching HDR fare.

This whole VUDU thing seems so incomplete that on first blush it reads a ploy. I might get a 20% off title just to see.

It's a bit of a waste since Samsung TV only out put DTS 5.1. That what I told the Tech Rep when he asked why I didn't plug all my gear into the TV. I get 7.1 out of my AVR and that's what they are designed for. I even get 7.1 from my 6 year old, 4 app Blu-ray player using the VUDU app. But we will not get much of anything from these TV's unless they "update" something?

Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

                      FYI-

                      HDR10, +, 1000 = 10 bit color

Dolby Vision = 12 bit color

That's why it may be failing if they are trying to use 12 bit versions that are not encoded properly.

I am able to playback DOLBY ATMOS through my SAMSUNG 2017 UHD TV MU SERIES while viewing a UHD Movie on the SAMSUNG VUDU APP. My TV is connected to a high end Yamaha Receiver. I can also playback ATMOS and VUDU UHD together through a ROKU ULTRA. Although ROKU ULTRA has been experiencing audio issues for months they can't seem to resolve. Popping and chirping can be heard during playback through A/V RECIEVERS connected to a ROKU ULTRA. My new SAMSUNG plays ATMOS perfectly.

I very disappoint in this. It seems my BRAND NEW TV doesn't support 4k on Vudu. Sony XBR49X700 should support; it supports googlecast and Netflix UHD. But I go to look at my movies that have listed UHD in VUDU.
