Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

The Samsung KU and MU series are almost identical save for some panel differences. Why doesn't the KU get VUDU UHD? I love the picture quality on my Samsung, but the app support has been terrible. The VUDU app regularly locks up and I have little to no recourse but to power cycle the TV. I think a P series Visio is in my future, at least I know Chromecast is a solid piece of software.

YES YES YES!! This needs to be said more than once!!

So far there are no apps on PS4 Pro that support HDR, only a few games. Waiting for Sony to do something...

VUDU with UHD / HDR on the PS4 Pro would be awesome!

Unfortunately, They're probably waiting on the HDR10 thing.... Since I doubt the PS4 will support Dolby Vision

The only way I could see all of my movies is with VUDU. My Disney movies don't go to UV locker. I can watch my Sony 4K movies in the Sony Ultra app and my other UHD movies on the Roku device via VUDU. I have 936 movies in all right now. I have more than 40 4K movies.

I was referring specificity to 4K. I have over 500 Vudu movies that will not get upgraded to UHD because of this. No problem here with UV or Disney on Vudu.

Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

I've got several UHD movies in my library, but I'm unable to get them to stream at UHD on my LG OLEDb65p.

I'm running Vudu through the LG TvOS. In the Vudu "settings" I see the option to "prefer" 4k video but when I run a UHD movie, the only options I get are SD and HDX.

I have an 80/80mbs internet. I'm running the TV off of wifi but have a top-of-the line wifi router (with 802.11ac) right below the TV (i.e. no interference and short range).

I can stream Netflix at 4k and HDR, but for some reason can not on my LG. So it is unlikely to be an internet based issue.

                Recommendations would be appreciated.

                Thanks.

I really wish HDR10 would show up on Vudu soon!
is there any news about hdr10 for vudu?

Re: VUDU UHD - Compatible Devices List

What is the issue between VUDU and Sony? Vudu does not support UHD on a single Sony device - TV, UHD Player or PS4 Pro, yet these devices have UHD support for other services (Netflix, YouTube, Amazon). So, this seems like a Vudu problem, not a Sony problem. Maybe LG and/or VISIO have paid Vudu to block Sony?

I like Vudu, and thought this would be the place to collect and rent digital content. But since we have Sony devices, I think I need to start migrating to a different streaming service and leave Vudu behind. Disappointing.

I don't think it's a Vudu issue at all but Sony who's preventing UHD capability on everything except certain Sony android TVs. I've been hearing from them that they would start allowing 4k access to other devices starting on the 2nd quarter this year. That time has passed and still nothing from Sony?

I bought Batman V Superman a second time in UHD when the Xbox One S was supported. It was great. I watched it a few times and really enjoyed it. Today I went to watch it and it will only allow HDX. Nothing has changed since the last time I watched the film. Any reason why this would happen? I'm pretty annoyed at this point; I spent another $30 to get the UHD and now it won't work.

How is Sony preventing UHD capability when they have 4K Apps for Netflix, Amazon and YouTube? It is only 4K Vudu that is missing. Is there something technically different about the way that Vudu delivers 4K from Netflix and others?

It's likely because VUDU is exclusively Dolby Vision (for the time being at least)

I know with Samsung, Vudu was waiting on Samsung to address some firmware issues related to security before they could release the UHD Samsung app, so likely the same with Sony.

Huh? Vudu 4K is available on a lot of devices that don't support DV.

Sony has an app called "ULTRA" plays Sony movies in 4k with HDR. It is linked to ultraviolet library, but only plays Sony 4k titles. I have to use my Roku device to play VUDU 4k in my Sony. So I must switch between apps to access all my available 4k online movies. There are still some 4k titles in my ultraviolet account that I cannot watch yet because they are linked to Flixster and it won't play 4k?
