Take a look at the TCL Roku TV (55P605) - 4K with Dolby Vision / HDR10 for ~$600-700. Hard to beat the quality in its price range.

How do you know if a display device is receiving a 4k signal from Vudu? When you see the UHD banner above the movie choice? I see this banner on my 1080p display as well and it is not greyed out.

            Hello,

Now that Vudu is an app on AppleTV, does the Apple TV 4k model support Vudu 4k Playback with or without Atmos?

            Thank you.

I don't believe that the Vudu app on the Apple TV 4k supports 4k or 4k w/ HDR yet. It's supposed to at some later date but Vudu sometimes takes forever to implement something (like the HDR-10 support we've been waiting for for over 2 years).

Then you should tell JefferyVudu in marketing to put it on the list for Compatible Devices.

No that is listed under 4K Ultra HD playback only, the TCL 605/607 should be listed under the 4K Ultra HD + Dolby Vision HDR playback

I?m not holding my breath anymore for VUDU in UHD for my Samsung Tv or Apple TV 4k. I linked my VUDU with movies anywhere and now I have many more 4k titles in iTunes than in VUDU. My opinion is that you should do the same and perhaps rely solely on iTunes and Apple TV 4k. Just saying.

Unfortunately, I agree. As the owner of a Sony 4K TV, I've pretty much given up on Vudu 4K. I like the Movies Anywhere option and pulled the majority of my Vudu movies to iTunes and plan to move away. Vudu 4K had potential, but ultimately isn't delivering. I'm glad someone else is.

Seeing how it's unlikely our 2015 TV sets will get some love...was hoping at least the Samsung 2016 k8500 bd player would and act as that STB you spoke of. Thanks again.

The 2017 Samsung BD players do support UHD. The BD player would need to support Samsung's "Tizen" platform to run the VUDU UHD app. I think the 2016's are still on the old "Orsay" Samsung platform - if that's true the would not work unless Samsung updates them (probably not likely, but who knows).

Re: Vudu UHD - Compatible Devices List

Using the built-in Vudu app on my 2016 LG OLEDs, there is severe stuttering and audio drop-outs during UHD playback. I've tried two different LG C6 OLED TVs -- both using the latest TV firmware and Vudu app version. UHD titles are essentially unwatchable using the TV's Vudu app.

Both TVs are hard-wired to a gigabit fiber Internet connection. All other built-in apps on the TVs work just fine -- I just finished streaming Stranger Things in Dolby Vision using the built-in Netflix app. No stuttering or audio drop-outs to report with Netflix. So this definitely appears to be a Vudu app issue. I started a couple of months ago, about the time the Vudu app was last updated.

If it's not fixed soon, I'm going to have to pick up a Chromecast Ultra -- but those apparently have their own issues with Vudu UHD playback.
