On Roku, I think you can press the down button, then scroll over to the resolution box (UHD/HDX/SD), click on it, then change the resolution. Or, you can set the app on that device to play the lower resolution under settings.

The device will also play the highest supported resolution for that device. if the device only supports HD resolution and you own the UHD copy of the movie, the device will only play it in HD. You don't need to go change it yourself.

      630 UHD
      759 HDX
      5 SD

Amazon released this device without properly testing it, as there are many apps which work flawlessly on the older FireStick 4K and 4K Cube, but do not work as promised on the 4K Max.

          Two known examples are:

Vudu: HD only on FireStick 4K MAX, UHD/HDR10/Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos on FireStick 4K and Cube
Disney+: Dolby Digital 5.1 on 4K Max, Dolby Atmos on FireStick 4K and Cube

Apparently, both Vudu and Disney+ are aware of these issues, but Amazon is completely in the dark about them.

Well, Amazon doesn't develop or manage the apps....that would be respectively Vudu and Disney+

True, but Amazon has been issuing updates to their devices that keep breaking these apps. They just broke the HBO Max app again, disabling Dolby Atmos playback.

Please add FireStick 4K MAX to the UHD compatibility list.

Any plans to add UHD playback to browsers/apps? Computers today are capable of playing UHD, as well as some phones, e.g., some Sony Xperia. What about Amazon Fire Stick 4K MAX?

The Amazon Fire Stick 4K MAX is UHD capable on Vudu. Other devices UHD playback depends on the manufacturer and the DRM security levels embedded on those devices.

How do we get additional information on the DRM levels with an Android TV?

I second this. Both my desktop and laptop have 4K displays but not being able to watch my movies/shows in them in 4K is a bit frustrating.

Dolby Vision/HDR does not activate on the Vudu app on the 55H8G Hisense TV. DV/HDR activates fine in the Movies Anywhere app on the TV.

Is the Chromecast with Google Tv no longer a compatible device to watch UHD content on the Vudu app? After purchasing UHD content, the option to select UHD for viewing is no longer available, only HDX is the highest quality available. Am I wrong? I am positive that I have watched UHD content from Vudu in the past on my Chromecast with Google Tv.

Did VUDU stop adding device support? I bought a Sony UBP-X800 years ago, and it STILL won't play my UHD content on VUDU.
This list appears to have died in 2018.
I am very disappointed with Vudu.
