Apple TV - Who Bought Latest? Whos expecting an app?

Who else got one of the new Apple TV today, or is expecting to purchase one ?

Who is expecting Vudu to make an Apple TV app now that their is an official store finally?

There certainly isn't a good track record with no Android TV native app, even though you can side load the Android tablet / phone version.

The Roku 4 has been a frustrating experience with numerous problems since launch with none resolved yet.

I still have reservations about the Apple TV interface and remote. It might grow on me over Roku as I spend more time with it this weekend, but lack of Vudu will be a deciding factor which is my I sold my Fire TV (and it sucked) and likely might do the same with my Shield TV.

    Thoughts people ? ? ?

I'd like to buy a new Apple TV, since I've had lots of buffering problems with my Roku 3. Apple said all video services are welcome on the Apple TV, so it's up to Vudu to submit an app. I hope they do. If not, maybe MGO or CinemaNow will. If Vudu does release an app, they could really compete better against Amazon, since Amazon doesn't appear to want to release an app. Go VUDU!!

Hmmm.... yeah Amazon Video that could be a sticking point for me with Apple TV as well. I actually use Amazon fairly often.

      I need...

      Vudu
      Netflix
      Hulu
      Amazon Video

on any device I'm using. Unfortunately right now that's only Roku. Hopefully Apple TV gets it all, but unlikely (for all.)

I ordered the new Apple TV. Not holding my breath for a Vudu app though. It should be great for my music and photos, but my Tivo is where I access all my video services (Vudu, Netflix, Amazon).

That's interesting to hear that Apple would be open to all video services, considering they are the ones that try to do their best to not be compatible with anything that doesn't have the half eaten fruit emblem on it.
I would have to wonder if it's because they are getting pommeled in this particular new market and that(having Netflix, HULU, VUDU & Amazon apps) would be a deciding factor on if people decide to buy their fruit TV.
I promise you that if their sales were good in this video platform, they wouldn't be making that offer.
They would stand high on their arrogant platform and look down on all those in the arena.

Just a heads up, I have an LG TV and all 4 of those come standard on their apps, plus a few more(Netflix, Skype, Weather Channel, games).

It won't be all the bells and whistles that the Apple TV will have, but I guess you just have to decide what you really want your TV to be used for.

I have a Vizio Smart TV, and it has all the popular video apps, but the remote is a little flaky, i.e., it doesn't respond quickly, and it sometimes takes a while for the apps to load. There are also a few apps I use that's not on the TV.

I bought one. It's being delivered Monday. I'm guessing no vudu app though.

Yes, thats actually true. I just threw it out mentally. I have a Tivo Roamio Pro but the apps are so slow and painful to use compared to other streamers. Not to mention it's so many extra clips to go through. My thing with the Tivo is it's centered around TV first and streaming a distant second. Where things like Roku with say a Simple.TV or Tablo is streaming first and TV a fairly close second. Tivo is a great (if expensive) product but is kind of a dog for streaming services. The Bolt is supposed to be a lot nicer but I'm not going to bother with Tivo again this year.

Did a demo at an Apple Store and can confirm no Vudu app available.

Good point about the Bolt. From what I've heard, streaming on that new ox is much improved over the Roamio (almost instantaneous even).

Oh great, now I will be tempted to purchase yet another tech device! I'm actually satisfied with my experience using the Roamio for streaming. But it is always enticing to get that next "faster" upgraded device!
