    Vudu vs Movies Anywhere

Has anyone tried the Movies Anywhere app? The quality is nearly twice as good as Vudu. The 4K HDR looks amazing. Right up there with iTunes. On Vudu 4K looks like a 1080p blu ray. Even the HD versions on MA are much better. Only bad thing is no paramount/lionsgate/mgm titles. Im really hoping VUDU can increase bitrate and compete with other services.

I've got about 3000 DVDs/Blu Rays, of which almost 2000 are on Vudu, but only around 1000 on Movies Anywhere. There aren't any movies on my Movies Anywhere account that aren't in my Vudu account.

Until Movies Anywhere bridges the gap, I'll be hard-pressed to see a reason to go to them for any reason other than their Daily Deals compilations. I'm at 2/3 of my collection when I just watch Vudu. I'd be at 1/3 of my collection if I just watched Movies Anywhere. I can't imagine doing something like that on purpose.

I like the idea of a single source for all our movies, but right now that single source is still Vudu, for me.

Agreed. Same here. I just wish the quality was better on Vudu and at least closer to MA or iTunes.

Vudu is my go-to as well. I mainly watch all my movies out of Vudu but I do like that Movies Anywhere offers different language tracks. Next time i watch Pixar's Coco I plan doing it over at Movies Anywhere so I can listen to it in Spanish.

If you really want to see what high end streaming looks like check out:

          https://www.kaleidescape.com/
          https://www.kaleidescape.com/movie-store/

I was able to get a used box for under $2K. New they are $6K+

I was also able to port all my UA movies over to them with their higher quality before UV went down. Unfortunately they haven't signed with MA yet. So I don't have everything I have on Vudu with them, but most of it.

Not suggesting anyone buy into their ecosystem but the quality blows out Vudu or MA app's.

Kaleidescape doesn't stream. They download and play back locally.

VUDU is better than MA, no question.

MA doesnt have all my titles.
MA doesnt support Dolby Vision / Dolby Atmos on many titles.
              MA doesnt have TV titles.

You also should not be having any problems with the picture quality on VUDU. It is EXCELLENT for me. You may have slow ISP or some other network problem in your setup. We just rented a movie on VUDU last night. Not a single problem. DV and Atmos streaming perfectly!

I agree, it seems to be a higher quality UHD video on Movies Anywhere than on Vudu.

EDIT: The long and short of it....it seems that Vudu's UHD HDR video has the lowest streaming bandwidth requirements, so it is ideal for those with connections below 16Mbps. If you have a connection 25Mpbs or above, I hear that iTunes looks best, followed by Fandangonow. From what I've read, Movies Anywhere quality is up there with iTunes quality.

Anyone spending tens of thousands on a dedicated purpose built room to watch movies at home.

Anyone spending hundreds of thousands to drive a car in in Los Angeles traffic.

                    LOL

                    Oh wait never mind.

Average internet speed in the US increased by 40% last year.

It would be nice to see improved bitrate & image quality from Vudu, they need to move with the times. If you don't have 25mb of bandwidth, you should just be satisfied with 1080p, or pay more to get the required speed.

My gigspeed connection is going to waste in a big way as far as streaming, but I need it for work.

How many titles on MA support Dolby Vision now? about 10?

Still disappointed that I can't stream my UHD titles on Vudu even though I can on MA, Amazon, and Fandangonow. Will Vudu update their app for android TV's or Amazon Fire Devices? I was ready to pull the trigger on yet another separate streaming device until Apple announced an Itunes app that will be coming soon to Android and Amazon. So it's now your turn Vudu.

I have about a dozen non MA UHD titles locked in Vudu. Hopefully they will do something.

Vudu (Wal-Mart) and Amazon are direct competitors - I wouldn't expect a Fire TV/Stick anytime soon.
