For me, streaming UHD movies with the Apple TV app on the Apple TV device has been the best quality in video and audio that I have experienced. It is very good.

With Apple TV, they will not provide any 4K of the Marvel Universe so you have to manipulate it a bit. I downloaded the Vudu app on my Apple TV main page, and by doing that, I can stream those movies in 4K on Apple TV...and it works.

One other thing, it is very frustrating and disappointing that after three years of 4K streaming becoming part of the mainstream, there still remains issues that should have been resolved by now. I just redeemed Casino.....4K on Movies Anywhere, 4K on Fandango, and Vudu...HDX!!!!!! This gets old after 3 years...come on Vudu!!

I spoke too soon. 12 hours after I complained about Casino redeeming at the HDX level, it has been properly upgraded to UHD. Thanks Vudu, and shame on me for jumping too soon. Sorry about that!

I use streaming for convenience - road trips, friends/familys house, etc... I expect a compressed video that still look relatively good ... which for the most part I think vudu does a pretty good job... the HDX could look a little better but it's not bad .... if I want quality I go to a dedicated 4k player....

You didn't jump too soon. Every other retailer added it to their platform well before VUDU got around to it. It is my dream that one day VUDU will put their big-boy pants on and eradicate this problem so that we don't have to witness the glaring slowness with which they get around to adding new UHD encodes to their website - both with regard to new releases and dozens of Sony / Lionsgate / A24 UHD catalog titles that have been available elsewhere for 1-2 years now.

That said, I'm glad you got the film in UHD.

I love Vudu, and it is my preferred option. Movies Anywhere is better than Ultraviolet ever was IMO, but in terms of functionality and catalog nothing beats Vudu. The Vudu app on Roku is my favorite way of accessing it.

Not sure if its your Auburn education or what, but nowhere did i indicate that i am using a soundbar, because I am not. Thank you, next.

There are plus and minus issues with all the retailers, and as the consumers (or customers), if we really want the best of what's available in streaming, it requires using multiple sources, and from time to time that can be a pain, but it is the price we pay. A couple of years ago every time someone provided an update it would screw everything up, and that has gotten much better over time. Personally, I like all the retailers being linked, and for the most part, that's good for us. I am a real fan of DolbyVision and Dolby Atmos and as such Vudu provides more movies with DV and DA. I also like using the Vudu app on my Apple 4K, as it allows the Marvel Universe to be watched in 4K on the Apple TV. I am one of the ancients as I continue to maintain a physical disk library but I keep a duplicate digital library and I am finding that more and more I am watching the digital version of the movie instead of the physical disk, even when I am watching it on my main system that allows the option of watching it either way. Call it lazy or whatever, but I have determined that the video and audio quality between the two are getting closer and closer to each other, which is a good thing for all of us.

In terms of 4K Picture Quality, just from what I?ve been using it seems that:

                          1. FandangoNow
                          2. Movies Anywhere
                          3. Vudu

I don?t have an Apple TV so I can?t speak for iTunes even though I?ve heard it supposedly has the highest bitrate among all the service.

FandangoNow?s picture quality in 4K is really good, it?s much more deep and vibrant than Vudu and very noticeably.

I basically use FandangoNow mostly to watch my movies while using Vudu or MA to make purchases.

I've read this on the internet too, but I really question what they're doing. Do they actually receive a version of the movie from the studio that has a higher bitrate?? Or do they just have faster network outbound? More servers to handle the traffic? Higher quality of service tagging on the video? Does Apple pay extra for higher QoS , hence a higher bitrate across the internet?

Seems to me, the studios would provide the same exact file to all the streaming services. Then what the streamer service does with it from there is up to them.

This is the first I hear of FandangoNow having the best video quality. It was always the opposite situation for years.

                              370 UHD
                              769 HDX

Someone else in this thread said it before i did:

EDIT: The long and short of it....it seems that Vudu's UHD HDR video has the lowest streaming bandwidth requirements, so it is ideal for those with connections below 16Mbps. If you have a connection 25Mpbs or above, I hear that iTunes looks best, followed by Fandangonow. From what I've read, Movies Anywhere quality is up there with iTunes quality.
I used to use Vudu/MA as my primary because most my movies were there and Vudu especially had more viewing options. It wasn?t until I was gifted a FN gift card that I started using the service and right away noticed it?s 4K picture quality was much deeper and more vibrant than both Vudu/MA.

Vudu has the option of switching a movie between HDX and 4K UHD while watching. And for some reason HDX in Vudu looks brighter with deeper colors, but switching to 4K the movie gets a little dimmer and the colors toned down. FN doesn?t dim nor tone colors when watching in 4K.
