Vudu 3d on newer tv please.

Hello Vudu. I love the service, but it is way behind on my Sony xbr 65x850C tv. It doesn't have uhd, or 3d capabilities. The 3d titles are listed, but they say the device is not compatible. My 4 year old LG has it, so I hope this is coming soon.

It's up to the OEM (i.e. Sony) if they want to support 3D on VUDU, so if it's not supported now it's probably unlikely.

Thank you Jake. I was surprised to see this since the TV is so new I just assumed it would be. Do you know if Xbox one will get 3d support?

Also, do you happen to know of any blu ray players on the market that have 3d Vudu support? I am looking at getting a new one, and was wondering if some are on the list.

Of ALL the Vudu-equipped devices I have, NONE work with 3D. There's a list online somewhere of devices that do support it, I know a few Blu-Ray players do but I'm not going to buy another one of those just to get Vudu in 3D which my existing TV and/or Blu-Ray player should be able to do. This is just another reason why 3D hasn't caught on as big as the industry hoped it would; though posts like this show that people DO still want it!

I am right there with you Alan. Years ago, when 3d was just getting rolling. I bought a 55 inch lg tv. The room it was in was too deep for the tv size, so the 3d was not enjoyable. I now have a great 4k tv, that has much better 3d quality than my old lg, but I can't enjoy it. It's terrible that I can't enjoy Vudu 3d on a new tv, but can on a 2012 LG. I will stick to 3d blu rays since Vudu won't work, and the industry is dictacting that it is dead. In all reality, I feel they are shooting 3d down in support of UHD . UHD blu rays are $40 which I feel more people will buy into it than 3d. A lot of people can't enjoy 3d because of eye strain, but most love what 4k looks like in the store. It has that wow factor people like to show off, and without the need for 3d glasses. It just stinks that 3d is something going downhill, but I still enjoy it.

It's going to become harder and harder to find any new 3D TVs in the near future, it seems...

I think it's funny when the article mentions this:

"These moves come hardly as a surprise, as watching 3D television involved too many hurdles, the main one being the fact that people have to wear special glasses to enjoy the 3D pictures..."

You have to wear glasses when watching 3D at the theater too so why would it be so difficult at home? The only thing I can think of is that they weren't standardized. Once TV required one type of glasses and the other TV might require another type.

              1 UHD
              714 HDX
              1 HD
              2 SD

It is a bit of a pain....and major expense. My LG tv was passive, and came with 6 pairs of glasses. I could also use movie theatre glasses to watch, which are super cheap. My 850c on the other hand, is active and required that I spend $40 just for just 2 people to enjoy. That is quite an expense for the majority of the viewing public. I understand the complications and I blame the death of 3d on it. It will be a struggle for 4k too. Most need a new hdmi cable (or get tricked into buying one). If switching all inputs, you probably need a new amplifier. And last but not least, you may need a new uhd blu Ray player, or streaming device besides your smart tv. All these things are intimidating for most people, and will either keep people from getting a 4k tv, or they will do it half *** and not see the benefit.

You're right about 4k except for the new HDMI cable. Most of the current HDMI cables will also work with 4k content. I haven't had to change a single cable and I enjoy 4k daily.

I was only stating cables because most stores will try to con the buyer into the expensive cables. However, some people that got into HDMI years back and have 1.3 or older won't get full picture out of the 4k, and it won't even show a benefit over 1080P then. I was upset about finding my Amplifier won't work for the 4k signal. I will have to buy another cable, run it from my 4k device to my tv and then use ARC from my tv to my amp for sound. It kind of stinks to go back to multiple cables to the TV, especially when all of my stuff is now hidden in a room away from my TV. Luckily, being an electrician I pulled a conduit in the wall to allow for these things. Alot of people don't have that luxury.
