To be clear we are talking about whether it will port only when redeeming codes, right? If a title is purchased in UHD it should port no matter what... I would hope...

Yes, it makes sense that you could only redeem it directly on Vudu, as (to my knowledge) Ultraviolet does not support UHD yet.
    It most certainly does...

If the device you're using doesn't support UHD with Vudu then it will say it can play in whatever resolution is available.

IR Roku 4 will say UHD, Roku 3 will say HDX.

Redeeming a regular blu-ray UV still only gets you HDX, much like redeeming a DVD UV gets you SD.

This also seems to only apply to selected Warner 4k Ultra UHD blu-ray so other studios will likely still only give you HDX.

So the InstaWatch will only be HDX but after you receive the disc and redeem the code it will add UHD as well?

I agree, why should the BD come with an HDX code but the UHD copy not come with the UHD digital code?

No. I would not be surprised if there are upgrade options down the road, but I would be surprised if we see any such thing until there is a lot more content out there and I would also be surprised if it were available for all titles.

Have there been any definitive statements saying that we should not expect an upgrade option?

I blame the studios for this more than Vudu, but it really is asinine that incremental upgrade options are not available.
