Download option for blu-ray players, TVs, and media streamers with USB ever possible?

My internet connection sometime cuts out on me for a few minutes, only during the weekends, and I don't know why. I was wondering if Vudu will ever have a download option for modern blu-ray players, TVs, and media streamers that have USB ports so that I can download my movies from Vudu and watch them without interruption from my internet disconnecting? If not, how about a buffer-ahead on devices that are capable of doing that, the faster your connection the more ahead it will buffer depending on available memory, at least buffer ahead enough to cover for those brief internet disconnections I get? I know Vudu has a download option for PC using the Vudu 2 Go app but not all movies will run at HDX on PC, I get stuttering watching my Vudu movies on my PC, and I just don't want to use a PC, sitting at my desk, to watch my movies. So is a download option ever going to be available for blu-ray players, TVs, and media streamers, or at least buffer ahead.

The best vudu experience that I have had with downloading is to my Playstation 3. I have asked Vudu if they are ever going to rollout downloading to other means, but they always say they don't have plans for that. I have an xbox 1 with a 3 TB hard drive and would love to see the option to get some movies on the drive, but it just isn't in the works. I think it would be really great to roll out downloading in this new UHD era as well. I have a 256GB usb 3.0 flash drive on my Android TV. It would be so great to have the ability to download a title to that and never have to worry about the net dropping down. I have 100 MBPS internet, but vudu still cuts out at times so I know there are dips in my connection.

However, the PS3 does not support external hard drives for download from Vudu. For a person that wants to download his entire Vudu library, an external hard drive support for Vudu downloading would be a great feature, or at least Vudu create a media server app for the PC so that you can stream your Vudu library from your PC to your media streamer that has a Vudu app on it.

The answer to that need was suppose to be Common File Format (CFF) for downloads, but that initiative has stalled.

People are so comfortable with streaming now that the perceived need is pretty low, I'd guess.

I think it also has a lot to do with the fact that people just don't have traditional computers at home anymore. A lot make do with just their smartphone, and maybe a tablet or a 10 year old laptop. Personally if I wanted to download and locally stream my 1,100 Vudu movies it would involve some serious equipment purchases. Hitting "play" has been working fine...

All that is fine when you're at home, but try watching them at the airport, in the air, or at a hotel. There are still many places where streaming is not an option.

We're talking about the ability to download to something like a TV or blu-ray player. I hope you're not lugging one of those around an airport For your example, you can download to your mobile device or computer...

It is unfortunate UV took this path, reliability of iSP's can be an issue from time to time, and usage caps are always a potential threat....streaming will be the go-to platform in the near term, I just don't trust it......I have a lot of films on VUDU and if downloads to my media server were possible, I would never buy another Blu-Ray.....I prefer local storage, the media companies seem to be herding people toward the "cloud", I think this this could be a bad move down the road....Just my .02...
