Very disappointed as well. The ONLY reason we used Vudu was because of family play. We will no longer purchase or rent movies here... will just go back to amazon.

I am going to guess this was canned by new owner Fandango/Comcast as there is a decent cost available to it and no visible upside. Well I think the upside is starting to voice itself on this forum. It was a feature that helps Vudu stand apart from competitors. But God forbid that comes with a cost.

I oppose censorship or altering movies but Family Play never stopped me from watching everything uncut, and when activating it you even get an explicit message that you are going to be watching an altered version- I don't really see any advantage to removing this feature, plus it'll just encourage them to remove others. What's the exact reason for removing it?

On the other side, I hope they bring back the After Dark section which the evil Wal-Mart canned. That never even showed up unless you clicked a box to show it while registering, so those offended by it would never know it was there.

Can you post up the email for the rest of us. I haven't seen anything myself.
I haven’t seen this email, either. My guess is they only sent it to customers who actively used the feature.

              Same here. Very disappointed.

If nothing else, why not leave the feature intact for all of the previous, existing titles? If they don't want to bother with filtering new titles, at least leave in place all of the existing ones.

I have several purchased movies at Vudu. Since they were already purchased when the family play feature was offered, why not leave the feature on those old purchases?

Have also noticed an increase in vulgarity in the advertisements now shown at Vudu, even during family-rated movies!

My family and I are very disappointed in the discontinuing of the Family Pay option. We love a good action flick, but don't love the language and sex that seems to permeate them. It was like watching Sunday afternoon movies when we were kids. Please bring it back! We were half way through watching the Daniel Craig James Bond movies. Grrr!

Vudu/FandangoNow made it clear up front that there were no immediate changes coming except for maybe improvements. It's very disappointing that promise was broken in fewer than 3 weeks and with no reasonable explanation of why the change was made (either in the email or on this forum). I guess I will no longer be surprised when more features and viewing choices get taken away. I just wish there were a way for me to move certain Vudu content (television and non-MoviesAnywhere movies) to a competing MoviesAnywhere service provider where they still give me a choice in how I view the content. I would have paid Vudu monthly for this option and have already signed up for a paid service elsewhere. Vudu has been my main digital movie service but I expect that will change quickly since I want a choice in viewing that Vudu no longer offers me.

I feel ripped off as this is the reason I bought from VUDU. I have no reason to purchase from VUDU now, at least Amazon allows clearplay and Vidangel to filter their content. They will be getting my $$$$ now.

I made several purchases with the understanding that we could watch those with Family Play. PLEASE bring back this feature!!

Extremely upset by this - I've done most of my digital purchases on Vudu for the one and only reason that they had Family Play!!

this is disappointing . This feature was truly a differentiator for Vudu but apparently they no longer care about families or this was a leadership decision made in a complete vacuum. Why would you take away a feature like this and not provide a similar functionality???
