How do I put a pin number on my account for purchases?

    I don't want unauthorized purchases.

    #2
Pretty sure you can't. Just have to add and remove payment method when you want to purchase.

Of course you can put a pin on it. Go to settings, Family Settings, set/change PIN, you'll need to enter it twice.

Then go to Parental Controls, SET Control:

Require PIN to Purchase set to ALL

Require PIN to Watch set to OFF

Didn't see anything on the web. Must be device dependent.

Works the same for my roku and Sony blu-ray player. But of course you have to do it for each device separately, and if you delete the vudu device and then install it again the pin will be erased.

That seems like the wrong way to do it. The PIN should be based on the account, not the device. And there should be a per-device setting that allows you to disable the PIN for that specific device.

I would think so as well. I’d rather turn it on for all and then override as needed then turn it on for each one.

When you think of a four person family with everyone having a phone, and a tablet, and computers, and multiple TVs throughout the house (assuming only one house) That’s a LOT of devices. And if you have a hit off at college you shouldn’t have to goto their down to lock it down or make them bring the device home.

This thread is from 2 years ago and its nearly the end of 2022 and there is still no way to globally set parental controls and purchase protection pin without having to do this on every single device.
                Makes no sense

Makes no difference to me. But the option would be helpful to most households.

Vudu has always been slow to implement change / improvements and each year they fall farther behind the streaming industry.

In the last 2-3 years much of my viewing has switch away from building and watching my Vudu collection to Vudu becoming secondary to HBOmax, Paramount+, Disney+, AppleTV, Peacock, Prime Video, FoxNOW, and even Hulu for goodness sake.

Vudu has not kept up with the higher quality now offered elsewhere, the features - multiple language audio / captions, synch issues between audio / captions, content titles, search and filter options, AI learning for viewing and recommendations, structure of access, voice search, and esp PRICING.

I, along with what I assumed was many, hoped with would be a cash infusion and upgrade from Fandango, especially as they can be crosslinked.

I see 2-3 movies literally EVERY week and buy not only MY tickets but tickets for upwards of 4-6 other people each movie, each week on Fandango and not only to do I get little from it, I get little improvements in Vudu. Seriously I dump HUNDREDS each month on Fandango and Vudu EVERY month but I honestly feel that since that purchase things on Vudu are worse and that's not saying much to start with. I DO realize that I'm the exception and most people don't own thousands upon thousands of movies on Vudu, noe buy dozens of theater tickets on Fandango.

Needless to say I fear for where Vudu is going. It likely seems that streaming purchases are just going to fall to the wayside. Studios don't want you to buy anything. They just want you to "rent" content by subscribing to each of their respective services, all with no common or uniform interface - well unless you use AppleTV and even that is not 100% or a perfect interface.

                    Sigh!

The (streaming) world is just getting more convoluted, unstandardized, and going to hell in a huge handbasket.

                    Oh joy !

Maybe it's just me, but I find VUDU a little confusing. When viewing VUDU on my ROKU device, I was able to add a pin number for purchases by going to the Family settings. When I look at VUDU on the computer (which I do when searching for movies, as I just find it faster and easier) there is no Family setting to be found. And when I buy a movie it doesn't ask for my pin. It just seems odd to me. I do love VUDU though, quirks aside.
