I would like to see more prepopulated list that users can just add (and modify) to My Lists instead of creating them from scratch each and every time.

    Bourne
    Die Hard
    Indiana Jones
    James Bond
    Marvel
    Predator

    Road trips
    Blues Brothers
    Cannon Ball Run
    Cannon Ball Run II
    Gumball Rally
    Mad mad mad world
    Smokey and the bandit
    Smokey and the bandit II

    Silly buddy adventures
Around the world in 80 days
    Bill and teds excellent adventure
    Bill and teds bogus journey
    Dumb and dumber
    Dumb and dumber too
    Wayne’s World
    Wayne’s world II

    Party movies
    Euro trip
    Bear fest
    Old school
    Road trip

    Submarine
    Crimson tide
    Hunter killer
    Hunt for red October
    U571

You'd think a good way to do this would be to allow converting a collection to a list. So you can go to the Franchise section of Vudu and when looking at the Alien collection, let you turn that into a personal list that you can edit or rearrange as you see fit.

I've been aware of that for sometime.

          It does say "examples".

I guess you can sort of do that. I searched for the Alien 4 film bundle. Clicked list. Clicked create new list. Typed Alien and it saved it to my list with all four movies in it.

But yeah there’s no way to select say all Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and create a list from it except one by one. This is why we need curated list to pick from. Ideally with a check box if you want it to update with new movies or not whenever the curated list is updated. Say in the above example.

That only works if they have a bundle set up to buy. It would be better if you could turn one of their pre-existing collections into a list. They used to have quite a few, not sure if they still do. I don't see as much value in having a personal list that is curated by Vudu. Might as well just refer directly to the collection that already exists.

Point was to allow. A curated list you could start with then modify as got wanted. For large collections it could be 20-30 titles. You could turn exclude whatever you want. If you choose you could then auto update new releases as they happen in the same collection. Otherwise you could just add and let it update the same as the collection but having it all in app new place under My Lists. Being able to add a collection or frans hose that wasn’t A purchasable collection, day Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Yes, that's what I suggested. Be able to copy a franchise collection (which they already have) and put it into a personal list. But having it auto-update, or update by clicking something, ain't gonna happen.

Would require extra code. Could be a simple flag. If it’s on and the franchise gets a new release it’s added. If it’s off and the franchise gets an update it’s not added.

It’s easy enough to code for.

have we had good luck with changes now. But we also have a new owner so past experience is of limited value to what could happen go forward.

80-20 rule They get 80% of the functionality for 20% of the effort. No need to spend 80% of the effort getting that last 20%. More code than a simple flag. Easier to let people make a new list off the updated franchise collection if/when a movie is added, and that requires no effort on their part. We'd be fortunate to get any kind of prepopulated list functionality.

It’s not as simple as a flag, obviously. But in terms I f coding projects it’s low hanging fruit. I’ve done enough of them over the last 20 years. Have to seen what else comes down the pipeline form Vudu, err Fandango.

There'd be more to track and synchronize (now you need to know the source collection), more decisions to make (what happens when an item is added erroneously to a collection, what do you do when an item or collection is deleted, do you keep the users' custom orders, etc.), more bugs introduced. Those collections won't change often enough to be worth the effort. A one-time copy of a collection to a list has none of those issues and users can copy the new collection if they can't be bothered to add a movie. But I've only been doing this kind of thing coming up on 40 years. Maybe Vudu has the resources to spare.

Hey, I'm happy as long as we aren't forced to migrate to the FandangoNow interface.
