Disney upped their SD prices from $10 to $18.

So I was looking at the prices for movies from Disney and I just noticed that the SD prices suddenly cost the same as the HD prices. So they basically pulled a Sony/Columbia, if you don't know what I mean, the prices for Sony/Columbia's catalogs were $14, both SD and HD, that is basically what Disney is doing, but with $18, thus making it ****ING worse. As much I gripe about how Sony/Columbia charges the same prices for their SD versions, at least they did not managed to make it nearly $20. Disney just manged to make it worse. What are all of your thoughts on this?

I’m relatively new here. Why do people still buy SD movies?

Well, before this, because they were cheaper.

Likely cheaper to buy on disc and redeem the digital. Disney disc titles have been pretty cheap lately.

Like state above, the price, but some people still suffer from low speeds when it comes to high-speed internet. Before my parent's moved a few years ago, they lived in a small very small town that had no cable or internet company. When my mom called to get high-speed through AT&T they said no, and even said they couldn't offer dial-up, which is crazy to think they even still offer that. Their only option was to go through a horrible cable company 30 minutes away, and it took 3 years for them to full service the area they lived, and even then their high-speed speed was 3mb, and it would not support HD at all. Luckily they moved after 5 years, but people are still out there suffering like they were.

With that said, the prices for catalog titles is just crazy.

With the prices being the same now, slow internet speeds still shouldn't cause someone to purchase SD. It's better to buy HD so you own it then set your Vudu account to play back SD by default.

Of course, if they are all the same prices buy the highest since you can still do SD, and once they upgrade their connection, no need to rebuy. This is what I was making my parents do, even when the prices were different lol

When the same price vudu should just have one purchase quality offered which would be the highest offered at the time just to simplify things.

They are now putting this message on some of their movies: "Buy any quality, get every quality: All qualities up to 4K UHD included with purchase."

Of course when they do that, they should stop selling the lower qualities/resolutions. If there's only one price, there should be only one option.
