The only thing that would make it "right" is if there was an HDX option available.

Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot was offered in HD, but no longer able to be bought or D2D
Over Her Dead Body was offered in HD, now just SD
Lucky Numbers was offered in HD, not just SD.

I was just wondering if the HD to HDX upgrade will work on titles we bought previously, then their quality was lowered or removed completely.

Re: HD is dead, long live HDX

After visiting my parents today, I realized that getting rid of HD is actually a bad thing. My parents live in a small town, I call it a village. They only have one option for Internet and it's through the horrible cable company they use. All the company offers is 2mb of speed. My parents can't watch HDX files as it constantly buffers because their Internet speed can't support it. They were always able to watch HD files without any problem. Now they are forced to lower their quality to SD to watch a movie? I guess they won't be buying anymore movies for my account.

I think the idea is that HDX will have adaptive streaming rather than a fixed 1080p stream...

Also HD is still available for playback, just not available for purchase. I just watched a movie on my Roku 4 and was able to select HD from within the app during playback.

That's good, because some movies are in correct aspect ratio in HD but not in HDX (eg, To Catch a Thief).

But have they changed it to begin with? Removing the option to buy HD doesn't mean it was removed yet or not... no official word on if we can still select HD to view...

VUDUs intention was to just have only one HD option for purchase. Not reduce the available playback options, which is required for users with limited bandwidth.

Yes, I too would like official word (Jake) that the HD resolution will still be available for those with bandwidth constraints.

It would even be better to have it stated in the user's manual. That manual has not been update since January 2010, but perhaps nothing has changed since then.

For a nominal fee I'd be glad to update it for you.

But they still have the SD release for that they can watch. I just want a confirmation that all streaming quality options will remain once this HD removal is complete.

Has anyone's HD only titles been upgraded to HDX? Still waiting on mine. The email said ALL HD titles, so I hope it is in fact, ALL.

Re: HD is dead, long live HDX

Two titles I have that were HD now show with no resolution in my Vudu library on the PC and now longer show as owned on devices.

In the Name of the King will play on the PC as HD.
Over Her Dead Body only plays SD.

On devices both show as avilable for purchase in SD only.

We made some adjustments and HDX is available for both titles.
