First look at the new Vudu logo?

If I'd blinked I probably would have missed this. In the latest issue of Media Play News they used a promo photo of some nice folks using Vudu on their TV.

But lo and behold could be the new universal branded logo of the new Vudu Fandango. Has anyone seen this before? Screen attached.

I noticed recently that a lot of the sale titles and prices have finally started to align between them as well.

I wonder if Fandango gift cards will work on here eventually/ hopefully soon.

Is FandangoNow being merged into Vudu? (Preferable IMO to the other way around.) In addition to this image, when I setup my new Vizio TV today (exchanged for a defective one I bought earlier this month) I had no problem logging into Vudu (though not with this logo there or anywhere else); but my new Vizio's FandangoNow app only shows a black screen, though it worked on my old Vizio. (FandangoNow still opens in my browser & Android apps, and as my Roku Ultra's integrated Movie Store & TV Store separate from the Vudu app.)

I think it's still radio silent on what is officially happening.

Hopefully the next step would be too align the back systems and user accounts so that the only difference is the app and interface presented.

It would be nice to get non MA titles synched across both platforms.

In responding to another thread I remembered that FandangoNow's most unique interface is its integration into Roku as the Movie Store & TV Store (IIRC that carried over from M-GO). I believe there are Roku versions with Vudu as the Movie Store & TV Store, though I suspect those are Walmart-sold devices. If Roku can update its software to make Vudu its Movie Store & TV Store instead of FandangoNow, it may be easier to do that & kill the other FandangoNow / M-GO apps than change existing Vudu apps over to the FandangoNow platform; I'm not aware of any device that has FandangoNow / M-GO available but not Vudu, vs. several with Vudu but not FandangoNow. Then, they can just port all FandangoNow libraries over to Vudu & integrate Vudu more closely with Fandango proper.

Yes. The TCL Roku TV's and Roku Ultra's I've bought from Walmart have always had Vudu as the built in movie store. The one's I've bought from Best Buy had Fandango. I can't speak to what comes with ones from Amazon but I assume it's the same as Best Buy and only the Walmart unit's are different. Interestingly it seems, at least on my unit's that when one app is the default store you can't have the app also instead on the app selection grid.

My previous TCL 4K Roku TV was bought from Walmart & had FandangoNow as the Movie Store & TV Store, but I assume that's because it was a refurb. (The 4K Roku Ultra I bought for my new Vizio 4K TV came from Target; it's more full-featured than the Ultra LT that's exclusive to Walmart, though Walmart may also carry the regular Ultra with Vudu.) I've noticed the FandangoNow app won't install on my Roku devices where it's the Movie Store & TV Store; FandangoNow (and M-GO) buttons on those open the Movie Store. I assume the same is true with Vudu apps & buttons when it's the Movie Store & TV Store.

Hopefully once all these issues with Vudu and Fandango settle out things we be easier and more clear. At least in my case I'm made sure to get my Roku items from Walmart so as to get the Vudu direct access button (not that it REALLY matters) as well as the often included $5 Vudu credit in the box. Not to mention I'm routinely gotten Roku (streaming boxes) on sale at WM for 50%, where Amazon (almost never anyway) comes close to that, plus doesn't offer the Vudu button or $5 credit.

Roku's bought at walmart that have vudu along the left side, the vudu advertisement didn't replace the FandangoNow app, it just didn't have movie & tv store at all previously along the left side. And its just advertisement, your vudu purchases aren't there in that app like it is with true vudu app.

My Roku from Walmart has “Movie & TV Store by Vudu” in the left column text under column that launch’s kind of a ad section of various categories and only a few titles per. It’s not anything like when Fandango was there and you could browse your library. It’s almost similar to The Roku Channel app but only with Vudu.

I have the official Roku Vudu app with complete functionality. The Vudu button on the remote launch’s this app.

I also have the Fandango Now and Movies Anywhere apps along with 45 or so others.

I’ve never used The Roku Channel, Roku Feed, Fandango Now movie store anything that launches content (except for “Search” on the left text side on a WM or non WM Roku Ultra or Roku TV.
