AppleTV Needs Update To Match Other Platforms

The Vudu app on AppleTV is, and has been subpar compared to (most) every other platform.

Ive mentioned this before but it should look and function the same as say on the Roku.

I understand it can’t have rent and purchase options on AppleTV due to how Apple handles things. That’s perfectly fine. But it should have the exact same look and feel.

There should be very little effort in recycling the Roku interface to the AppleTV hardware and just comment out the rent and purchase buttons on the AppleTV app.

Roku Ultras have been my favorite of all my devices for years. And I have basically all other streamers. But I just bought two of the 2021 AppleTV’s on sale at Walmart did a mind blowing $140. They run blinding fast compared to my Roku Ultras, especially on apps like HBOmax which are dog slow to do anything. The ATV remote is also rechargeable so you don’t have to spend an extra $30 since Roku makes you buy it’s rechargeable remote separate. My AirPod Pro and Max Pro heads also connect automatically and without the lip sync issues of the Roku app using BT headphones.

Not to mention with the Pro and Pro Max Apple headphones you now have Spatial audio. Which is similar to Surround Sound using headphones. It’s a game changer for me with nighttime viewing.

Anyways PLEASE update the Vudu app on the ATV to match the look and fee of other devices.

    PLEASE !!!

I think Vudu is limited to what it can do on the Apple device by requirements set by Apple.

    608 UHD
    785 HDX
    5 SD

My understanding over the years is they choose to not offer sales or rentals because they would have to share the profits with Apple.

There should be no issues (I’m aware of) with adding filters, adding collections, and changing the look.

At least the Apple TV app has the lists feature. The Android app doesn't even have that. Please, Vudu, I want to use my Google TV.

Yes, I agree jeremymc7! The Vudu app on ATV is lousy. And I also think the new ATV 4K is by far the best streamer.

            Additional note here.

The Vudu app on iPad (and iPhone to a lesser extent) is actually much better than the AppleTV and almost exactly like the Roku Vudu app, minus rent and purchase buttons. The iPad app even has the deals categories including things like $5.99 offers, even though you can’t actually buy or rent in the app.

Can we just get the full iPad app ported over to the AppleTV; with whatever coding changes are needed to switch from iOS with touchscreen & keyboard to TVOS with remote control.

            PLEASE !

                My view/concern, as well.

I was looking to shift to using Chromecast with Google TV but its VUDU app is so atrocious that I just can't do it.
