WHY is there even an SD purchase link - on a 4K UHD sale?

VUDU does this often - and it seems like a wonderful way to invite a buying mistake by the purchaser.

If a title is available in all 3 resolutions at the SAME price - just put one button (the highest resolution) and let them get the highest resolution license.

Don't let/invite someone to accidentally buy the SD resolution at the UHD price. Nobody wants that.

The only time you might want to buy a lower resolution is when it's CHEAPER and you're saving money.

But - for example - if I'm buying a TV season and it's SD and HDX at the same price - just give me the HDX button.

+1 to this. After messing up once, I am completely paranoid with purchases. Contacting VUDU support always results with "Even though you bought this 10 minutes ago and you haven't watched it... we can remove it this ONE time...". Simple mistake that haunts my dreams forevermore.

This almost seems to be leftover coding from when you paid different prices for different quality. This seems to be largely gone these days. The mix and match might be a leftover. Another thought is that they still keep track of format for each title. Which comes into play for digits redeems. The Purchase UHD might just tied to same flag used for the UHD sales and HDX sales.

Why is SD even still being pushed AT ALL is a better question? What year is it again?

On the note of SD - I wish there was a way to sort by resolution/quality so I could quickly find the handful of SD stragglers on my account and watch to upgrade them if they become available in HDX. Would also be a nice feature for doing the same from HDX to UHD. Just a thought.

I created a watchlist of all the movies I own in SD for that very purpose.

Good idea! Now I just have to manually go through 1626 movies to find the 5 or 10 still hiding. Guess that gives me something to do.

I have over 3000 titles and add a few each week. It would kill me to even try.

Dont forget it also warns you when buying a 4k title on a PC that you can only view as SD on your PC making it even more confusing.

I always buy the highest resolution you can choose regardless of what my TV supports even back when there was no "UHD" option. When it was "SD", "HD" or "HDX", I always chose the "HDX" option. Why not? They were usually always the same price.

                  667 UHD
                  800 HDX
                  5 SD
