No longer able to download movies after latest app update

I loaded the VUDU app and was still able to access the "My Downloads" section in the VUDU To Go app on my desktop. I then went to the microsoft store and found that there was an update to the app, and after I completed the update, the app landing page is similar to the landing page on the webpage for vudu.com. No longer is there the option to access "My Downloads" or select to download a movie that I own. I also verified that this option is now missing from the android phone app (cannot verify if iPhone is the same) as well.

Is this change an unannounced intentional change, and we can no longer download movies to watch offline, or without continually using bandwidth to rewatch movies?

I am encountering this same issue and still can't watch online because of playback error?!

I have the same issue... downloaded stuff on Jan 7, watched on Jan 9, try to watch on Jan 16 just to find it is gone. iOS app still allows me to download, I'll have to see if I have to cast to watch or if the HDMI adapter will work.

Looks like they replaced the app with a simple link to the website. If you try to start the app without internet access, you just get similar connection error messages than in a browser. They were so sloppy, they did not even deleted the downloaded movies from my disks, I still have a few hundred gigabytes of downloaded movies on my hard drive somewhere, what I cant watch anymore, and as the "app" does not have "My downloads" cant even delete anymore. They did not even provided info about how to delete it manually. Whoever made this upgrade screwup should be fired.

Is there anyone from VUDU even checking these forums, or we just writing here and no-one reads it?

Same here. Half the time you can't even stream with vudu servers so you have to watch downloaded and now we cant even do that? Guess Ill quit spending money on vudu movies. Its almost like they are trying to put themselves out of business.

This exact thing happened to me i had tons of movies and shows downloaded on my laptop for viewing offline and today when i turned on my hotspot vudu requested an update when i tried opening it, infact i had no say in the matter it made me do the update and afterwards my downloads were nowhere to be found and no download option was available i have wasted probably thousands of dollars on movies and TV series i thought i owned the fact that an update can delete movies i have purchased and downloaded is beyond unacceptable i dont have normal internet i have a hotspot with limited data per month i can not stream, vudu better figure out an update to fix this or i think everyone in this chat should file a complaint with the federal trade commission and the better business bureau.

The link will be made via MA to MS.

So we have to do this work around instead of them fixing the issue? That seems stupid, why don't we press them to fix what they messed up? I'm a traveling technician and use VUDU on my flights. If they want us to do this work around instead of fixing it, I'll swutch to Netflix and recommend to everyone else to do the same. It would show an extreme lack of consideration for their customers. This happened a few years back as well. It was fixed then obviously so it should be able to be fixed again.

Inside the Vudu App on my windows 10 computer there is a Support link. When I click on that and type in -

"I can no longer access the titles downloaded within the Vudu app on Win10. Where did they go?" The Response is:

"The download feature within the Vudu app on Wi10 is no longer available. If you downloaded titles, remove the downloaded files if you want to free up your Win10 storage. To do so, please see our FAQ entitled: “The Vudu app on Win10 is taking up space on my hard drive. What can I do to reduce it?.” Please note that you can continue to stream these titles."

So - it appears Vudu knows it is no longer available and directing us to clear up hard drive space. I bought all of my movies for the past 8 years on Vudu for the specific reason that I could download them for my children on planes, cars, and where ever we don't have wifi access. Vudu - can you confirm you are no longer allowing moves to be downloaded to a local machine for later viewing? If that is true - are you recommending we move towards the Movies Anywhere application? Any direction on this would be appreciated. I am not familiar with Movies Anywhere and will need to research that a bit.

                          Thanks All.

I just realized this same issue. I went to vudu for Family Play and downloading on my laptop for car rides. Now both are gone. What a waste! will not spend another dime.
