People like to exaggerate when they complain, it's more like an average of every 15 minutes.

Just speculating here, but I think it might have to do with the play time of your specific account. It times how long it's been since a commercial played during your period inside their MOU feature.

For example, I started a movie, which launched with commercials before beginning the movie. A few minutes into the movie, I got distracted by a phone call. After the call, I decided to return to the beginning of the movie - this time it launched no commercials to start the movie. So I think "timing place-markers" are configured for your viewing account. People love to channel surf, it would be no different with MOU, switching to different shows. If it forced you to watch commercials every time you "MOU surfed," the viewer would never get out the required "commercial time" before the show begins.

So in your case of playing a commercial two minutes before the end had nothing to do with "squeezing in one more commercial" before the movie ends. It had more to do with the length of the movie. Your "place-marker for commercial time" triggered before the movie ended. If you had watched a movie say, 10 minutes shorter, you may not have got a commercial two minutes before the movie ended.

I repeat, I'm just speculating on that.

Just saying that where the commercials actually play often doesn't feel natural. I understand the logic that's being used and also understand that placing natural breaks in every program could be cost prohibitive.

I've only seen one movie, a documentary about Michael Jackson and they only had the 3 ads at the beginning and nothing for the rest of the movie.

Completely agree. I don't think they could ever fix that if my "timing place-marker" theory is correct.

There isn't. What I did is add them to my wishlist.

Thanks, yea, today I did the same thing. I cleared out my wishlist, which I really didn't seriously use anyway, and plopped the free movies I want to check out, in there.

It would be great though if one of the forum admins would past this suggestion of adding MOU to our MyVudu library, on to management.

Just thinking out loud here, but will the list of "free" movies be added to as time goes on? Or is this it?

I'd hope they would add more, or at least rotate them. The list now is kinda meh. There's a few I've put on my list to watch, but most seem to be lower budget films, but that doesn't make them bad for everyone. The TV section is a joke though, so hope they add to it.

                    Re: Free Ad Movies?

One more thought I'll add- again, I appreciate the free movies, but I hope that this doesn't lead to an overall cheapening of the Vudu experience. It's always been the highest-quality streaming service available, with the best user interface and aside from the brief misstep when they had the countdown display always come on the end of TV series has been the least intrusive in terms of letting you actually watch your material in peace from start to finish. Commercials on free material is certainly fine since those are what's paying the bills for that, but I'd hate to pay for anything on Vudu and get commercials or worse during it. (I know there's been complaints about the Fox show promos and I've seen the Travel Channel logo bug on their shows, but that's how Vudu is getting the shows from the distributors, they aren't adding those themselves.)

REALLY glad that both the free movies and commercials are in the usual high quality we've come to expect- that sets this apart from the other ad-supported offerings on Roku units. (I've noticed the Jet.com commercials are in 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus, even though they don't really make much use of that. I WOULD rather not have the timer display onscreen during the ads, and I'm sure the advertisers would also.)

                      Re: Free Ad Movies?

I'm guessing we don't get much time to watch some of the free with ads movies? I had some in my wish list I planned on watching soon. That was last week, and now 7 of the 10 I planned to watch are no longer free with ads.
