    HDX Downloads with Apple OS

I recently upgraded to an Iphone 7 and now it appears I can no longer download an HDX version to watch while traveling. I used to own an Iphone 5 and from my recollection I was able to down load an HDX version of one of my movies.

Is this an apple issue or a setting in the Vudu app that I can't seem to find?

HDX download is not yet supported on iPhone (it hasn't ever been supported before). Support is planned for later this year.

Thanks Jake. Hopefully along with the Apple TV app? One can dream...

Any chance of an AppleTV app being planned?

Maybe in conjunction with the Apple TV 4k release. Just wishful thinking on my part.

I'm just glad to hear it's still being developed. Thanks for passing along the info!

That's great to hear! Hopefully it doesn't take too much longer.

Unfortunately, Vudu has lost me as a customer for the last year specifically because there is no Apple TV app. Outside of the occasional Blu-Ray code redemption, all of our digital movie purchases have been through iTunes lately. Once a Vudu app comes out I'm back as a customer.

If you are happy with Vudu why not just continue with them and AirPlay those movies to the Apple TV? Now when the app comes out you're going to have your movies split across 2 services...

If Apple TV is the only Apple product you have, you can't AirPlay anything...

That is certainly true, but I'm not seeing where the person I was replying to said anything about their Apple TV being their only Apple device?

Respectfully speaking, to each their own but I'll never understand buying a movie through Itunes. It's so limiting. UV (and Vudu) can be watched ANYWHERE (with maybe the sole exception of Apple TV for the moment). They can be watched on a computer, a smart phone, a PS3, a PS4, a roku, a blu-ray player, etc.....

itunes movies can be played on Apple TV or an apple devise. And that's it.

I just don't get why people buy from the Apple store. Makes no sense to me. But to each their own, as I said....

I'm with you on this and this is coming from a HUGE Apple fan! I have an iMac, Macbook Pro, iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV, yet my movie library is ALL on Vudu. I made this choice over 4 years ago when I started purchasing digital movies because of the flexibility that Vudu and UV provides. I'm glad I did. I do wish that Apple, Disney, and UV retailers would all join together and provide one shared solution for all. But I'm sure this is just a pipe dream!

I'm everything Apple but consciously made the decision years ago to put my monies into the UV format, with Vudu being my pusher of choice. I have no doubt that all the UV, DMA, etc will get tied together at some point but Vudu will continue to get my business because they have worked very well for me. I currently AirPlay everything from the Vudu app to Apple TV.

It occurred to me yesterday though that the digital store that offers to most flexibility is actually Google, as your Google movies can be accessed via YouTube which is on everything, including the Apple TV.

Good point. Like you, I definitely like Vudu the best. Vudu is so much better than the other UV providers IMO. A lot of improvements can be made, of course, but overall I really like it, which is proven by the ridiculous amount of money I've invested in Vudu movies!
