    SONY HDR Exclusive

Looking to update one of my 4k sets to the latest Dolby Vision, HDR10, and more local dimming.

I'd love to be able to watch my Sony HDR UV titles but the price Sony is charging for theirs Vs what you get from others (like Vizio) is just an absurdly high premium.

How much longer is SONY going to limit their HDR titles to only their own branded sets.

You pretty much have to pay close to double to get something comparable to what Vizio, TCL and others charge

    Thoughts. Rumors.

What does this have to do with Vudu?

I don't mean to be rude but this is the General Discussion forum and if you read the title on the upper top left side of the General Discussion front page, it says "Anything and Everything". I would say this user has a legitimate question about Dolby Vision. VUDU is basically the only streaming provider that provides DOLBY VISION in abundance. Amazon does provide a few titles in DOLBY VISION but not to the extent of VUDU.

In answer to the person who created this thread. I haven't heard anything regarding Sony TVS and Dolby Vision/HDR10. I just returned an LG SUPER UHD TV/w DOLBY VISION a few days ago. I didn't like the LG TV due to bad audio quality with my high end Yamaha Receiver and other issues like terrible black levels, buggy apps. It was a mid-level LG SUPER UHD TV. The DOLBY VISION was awesome but the TV wasn't. I then purchased a Samsung UHD TV/w HDR. I love the TV. I can still view VUDU UHD through my ROKU ULTRA connected to my SAMSUNG TV. SAMSUNG TVS don't have Dolby Vision but the picture quality of the UHD movies and the UPSCALED 4K on the SAMSUNG while viewing on VUDU is phenomenal. Looks just as fantastic as Dolby Vision. VIZIO TVS have Dolby Vision but I won't purchase another. I've had two 60 inch VIZIO TVS die in the last 3 years. One is OK but not two in 3 years. However, VIZIO M and P SERIES do have an AWESOME picture quality. Excellent black levels. It's a 50/50 chance you may get one that will last for more than 16 months. The Sam's employees don't recommend VIZIO TVS. High return rate.

I've never owned a Sony and truthfully, if Sam's would have had a Sony, I may have considered buying a Sony TV. One of the technicians that visited my home regarding the VIZIO TVS advised Sony is an excellent product and Samsung too. I don't have any info regarding HDR10.

Good luck. Hope this info helps.

It's not quite out yet, but everyone in our office has been really impressed with the overall performance (on Dolby Vision, HDR10 and SDR) of the Roku TCL 55P607, especially for the price.

Well let's see. Because I want to watch my Sony UHD movies and would like to watch them on Vudu. And since I'm getting a new 4K down the road if Sony UHD isn't going to be on Vudu then I'm pretty much limited to buying a Sony UHD and just watch the other UHD titles on Vudu.
