LOOPER - ID change at VUDU makes movie disappear for some

It appears if you bought or redeemed LOOPER from anywhere other than VUDU (like from Sony or FandangoNow or CinemaNow), it is no longer appearing as owned at VUDU - even if it is still in your UV locker.

But it still shows at other providers.

Best guess is VUDU changed the ALID they recognize? But it's causing problems for LOOPER owners who didn't buy/redeem at VUDU.

VUDU - can you look into this?

Yes, Looper is missing from my Vudu Library. Apparently I redeemed code on Sony site.

Will anything be done to correct this? It seems like I spend more time on these forums asking where my movies are disappearing to than I do watching my movies...

Called Vudu customer service and they said they have been getting a bunch of calls about Looper. He said the ALID changed and when that happens what is sent to Ultraviolet no longer matches what is sent to Vudu and that's why we no longer own Looper. He said he would send this issue to escalation and it should take about five business days for them to match my ALID with what Ultraviolet has then the movie will be added back on. I'm assuming this is on a case by case basis so you may want to call Vudu Customer Service if you no longer have this title in hand. The rep also said this has happened with the movie Space Jam and the tv series "Person of Interest" in the past couple days also as they have been getting calls on this issue. I own Space Jam and my title is still in my collection and I also own the entire series of Person of Interest but since I bought both on Vudu they are still in my collection but you may want to check your collections for those also (save you another call to Vudu and just list if your missing Looper, Space Jam or Person of Interest).

Just a thought here Vudu but it seems if a studio is gonna change a ALID don't you think it would be wise if the studio contacted providers (like Vudu, Flixster, Fandango, CinemaNow) and let the providers know the ALID is about to change giving Vudu a chance to add the new ALID to the title itself which in turn will be reflected to everyone who owns the title(s) account that way this doesn't keep happening. I have well over 2,400 titles and if one movie disappears it will be very hard to recall or research which title went missing. It seems if Vudu were to be proactive regarding changing ALID from studios that this would negate the problem altogether. If I were running a business and sold something that required a universal "key" to work and I had tens of thousands of customers well I would want to make sure that "key" worked for all my customers no matter when they purchased the product.

            Just saying.

It's pretty obvious by their "F" rating with the Better Business Bureau that customer satisfaction is not one of Vudu's priorities. One exception is FilipeF who has regularly helped me out when all of Vudu has only given me lip service.

Re: LOOPER - ID change at VUDU makes movie disappear for some

It does seem this way. With all the issues Vudu has (heck just this week with both Disney and Sony) it seems if the studios kept in touch with the providers and vice versa it would solve half the issues Vudu is having.

Dang it there I go again trying to use common sense again. When I attended business classes back in college you had the Manufactures (the studios), the Suppliers (Vudu, Flixster etc) and the customers. It was job 1 to keep the customer happy if they had an issue they went to the Supplier who in turn went the Manufactures. Now it's all a blame game. Oh it's not our fault it's the studios fault or the customers fault. The Supplier now wants the customer to fix any of their issues and that's not how a business should be run. It should be if there is an issue with a product the Supplier needs to contact the Manufactures and solve the issue so that the customer is never aware there was a problem.

Not sure if this issue has been fixed, but (Looper & Space Jam) still show as being owned in my VUDU library. I just mentioned in another thread the other day about experiencing hiccups every month, looks like its every week now. What's next...DAILY?!

Well this morning didn't have Looper and after calling customer service it's now back. They told me five business days and they got it back in less than one.

Yes, it's back but I was out for most of the afternoon and evening so don't know when they fixed it? In any event, they fixed it very fast IMO.
