    REPEATED UV Redemption Problems

This is the second movie THIS WEEK to not redeem on Vudu. Both were from different studios as well.

    Background.
I pre-order the Disc + Digital usually every week. This allows me to get early watch of the movie in HD. When the Blu-Ray comes out I just sell it. At the same time I also pre-order UHD blu-ray since unfortunally UHD isn't available for D+D offers. So when the UHD disc comes in I redeem the same title a second time but in UHD digital, compared to the prior HD(HDX).

Each and every time I do this there is an error on Vudu that states "Error: Movie already purchased". No duhh it was purchased in HDX but now I'm purchasing UHD.

Each time this happens it end up in "My Account" under "Saved Promos" but trying to "Retrieve" just gives the same error.

I buy multiple D+D pretty much each week and same goes for UHD discs.

Same thing happened to me when I tried to redeem the UHD version of Snitch. Now I don't know if the code is still usable again or not. I'm waiting to see if Vudu gets the UHD digital copy and then I'll try again. If it says the code has already been used I guess I'll need to contact Lionsgate? What's weird is that Ex-Machina UHD worked just fine (also Lionsgate).

    787 HDX

The ones I have problems with weren't valid at the studios stating "code already used". I tried contacting Vudu but the cases have to be escalated to 2nd level content department. Which usually takes days and often multiple emails.

Yes, mine says not valid with the studios as well but I don't think Vudu will be able to do anything about it? The studio will need to give us another code to redeem once it becomes available in UHD at Vudu. Clear as mud, huh?

Not all movies on VUDU are available in UHD. Some aren't even available in HD yet. I searched for Snitch, and if it's the one with Dwayne Johnson (the Rock), it is only showing as available in HD. So, even though you bought the 4k disc, there isn't a UHD encode showing for VUDU.

To be specific every time I have bought an HDX from Vudu and then Buy try and redeem a UHD code from a UHD combo Vudu errors out and won't redeem the UHD code as it says I already own the movie, even though in a different format (i.e. HDX). Additionally when not adding the UHD version and eroding out is also invalidated the UHD as if it has redeemed it. Then I either have to deal with Vudu CSR which days days at best and requires escalation to content department or deal with the studio which is faster but iften requires multiple emails as well and now a days the studios are getting VERY particular with how and when they provide a replacement code or directly add to my UV acct themselves.

It's like pulling teeth when you buy many movies each week and adding a UHD or two each eeek as well.

Over 2000 movies didn't get there without spending a good chunk of money. It should be so difficult to spend t.

True, it has become so that I have several codes that I haven't redeemed at all because of this. I did try Snitch and thought it would work because I had just tried Ex Machina a few minutes earlier and it worked fine. I got Ex Machina in UHD at the UV site. I then got the error when trying Snitch on Vudu and code won't work anywhere else anymore. I spoke with Lionsgate and they just kept telling me that the codes are only for the HD versions. I kept telling them that their titles aren't consistent as to how they redeem (HD or UHD). They again just said to wait until Vudu has the UHD copy and then contact them at that time. It's getting pretty frustrating and much more trouble than it was when we had the SD/HD issues years ago.

                Re: REPEATED UV Redemption Problems

Sad to say but not all UHD movies can be redeemed at Vudu. If Vudu does not have the rights to a title in UHD you can't get it no matter how hard you try. What's frustrating is some titles are redeemable and some are not. Doesn't matter if it's from the same studio. I tried to redeem the UHD copy of The Martian with Matt Damon but after a year now it still has not shown up but Batman vs Superman UHD worked just fine. It would be nice if everything were consistent but sadly it is not. Heck we are on to UHD but there are tons of titles either still in SD or just in stereo audio (Seriously Tombstone is still in stereo).

                  Re: REPEATED UV Redemption Problems

I moderate a UV code Community on Google+. I created this FAQ to help answer the most basic questions. There is a section a page or two down that specifies where & how you have to redeem UV codes to get UHD. I don't know if this will help with some of your specific issues, but it might provide some insight:
