    No Bandwidth?

Got the Vudu box yesterday got eveything hooked up, Find out that there is no Bourne movives, what is more frustrating is that the box says that there is not enough banwidth for instant viewing, we have a 6/1 internet connectiom. I do a speed check at DSL reports and other sires and I am getting results anywhere fro 5/1 to 8/1. Customer service was polite but not that on the ball didn't seem to have an anwser other to leave the box on for a few days. Thats what I get when I try to rent a movie is that it will be available in a few days. Any suggestions???

    Re: No Bandwidth?

Welcome to the Vudu Forum windtreker.

The bandwidth results don't really mean anything at first, as you don't have any history. After you rent a couple movies it will learn your network. Based upon the information you provided (6/1), I'm betting your first movie will be available to watch within 5 minutes of renting.

As for the Boune Movies - your Vudu needs to download the software update that provides access to the HD libraries. This will take several hours, as it happens in the background. Using your box to watch anything will also delay the software updates (active viewing beats background updates in the Vudu Rock-Paper-Scissors).

Heck, if you go out today and leave the box alone, you may be watching Bourne for free tonight.

P.S. If you go into Info/Settings you can find your Client ID, Software and Database version. Posting that information here (especially client ID) will let us know where you are and how long before your box is current.

OK, your software is current. You just need your database to get up to date (the lag happens between the time the factory builds your Vudu and the date you activate it). Keep in mind that the Vudu you just opened may have been built many weeks ago.

After this first day lag, you will always be current, as long as you keep your Vudu online.

Standby mode is fine - that just turns OFF the audio/video outputs. Just don't disconnect the internet or pull the power cord

Somebody else will have to chime in with the database version - I'm on a different version for beta testing future stuff (stuff you will like!).

Database is now starting to update now at 14:1366, I am now able to view immediately. What I did was go to out and pick yp a new router, I had the Belkin F5D8230-4, while the router is rated very well it always seemed touchy. I replaced it with a WRT54GS not only did the range increase for the house but speeds went up and pings down. The Vudu retested the connection and bang immediately went to instant viewing. Thanks for all the help I'll be a regular here
