    The Lion King DMA

Just a guess but i would guess Disney is going to pull the version we already may have when the new digital release happens in August just like they did with Beauty and The Beast last year.

They can't pull it but they can replace it if they wish. I still own my old copy of Beauty and the Beast, haven't heard anything of it being pulled at all. With how greedy Disney is I seriously doubt they will replace our old copies with new and improved copies. Disney is king when it comes to making people have to re- purchase movies they already own with better versions. They can't just pull titles that have already been purchased. They would get some serious backlash if they ever did that.

What was the difference between the Beauty and the Beast releases? I know the Blu-rays were different but trying to find out the digital version differences.

There is the special edition version that is 92 min long and has an extra song, and then the original 1991 theatrical version that is 85 min long.

Some of us, like me, had the special edition version on Vudu from the 3D Diamond Edition package. and then when there was a re-release last year vudu removed that edition from our accounts and replaced it with the theatrical version, with no explanation still a year later.

Hopefully it won't happen again with The Lion King, or any other title, but it doesn't look like there is a difference, unless they remastered it or something...

unlike with Beauty and the Beast, the Lion King was not (and doesn't appear to be) the special edition (with the song Morning Report added). It is possible that version will show up in the DMA extras or on iTunes, similar to how BatB is doing it right now, but otherwise the most that will happen is your artwork on Vudu will change.

The issue with BatB is that the special edition has some minor yet significant changes due to the song Human Again in which the way the castle appears throughout the movie after that scene is completely different. Lion King on the other hand, if my memory serves me well without Googling it, just adds the song to the film.

If you have the original version of the Lion King in your DMa/Vudu account call DMA and they will add the Signature edition to your DMA account and it will add the Signature edition to your Vudu account

I still have the film in my DMA account but it's no longer in Vudu. Is this something that will be fixed eventually or is my only option to contact phone support? Do I contact DMA or Vudu?

I would thank them, and then kindly ask them to restore my copy of Beauty and the Beast to the version I got 3 years ago before they "upgraded" it against my will to the "newly released edition" last fall -- it obviously must have been a mistake since they just said they DON'T upgrade.................
