I think they are beginning the transition to Movies Anywhere.
    Relativity went bankrupt.

They went into bankruptcy in 2015 but came out of it in 2016...

If vudu's big announcement for the end of 2017 is the HDR10 announcement, I'm worried for the future of this platform. I've heavily invested in this platform. I've started buying less and less as its future existence seems less certain. If UV dies with no way to move the library into another system, I'll never spend cash on another studio supported system again.

certainly its a very bad sign that new releases no longer sport the UltraViolet logo.

i'd really like to continue using Vudu, because I like the quality of the video ( Dolby Vision !! ), I like the UI ( Android and Playstation ), I've invested in a library of titles, just like most people here, so I really hope something gets worked out...

Great like most here I have increased my VUDU library significantly and just saw this post. Now I am concerned as well.

Could their dropping the Ultraviolet name and listing it as digital copy be due to simply that the average consumer doesn't recognize what UV is whereas they do know what digital copy means?

Well, I guess we have our answer with today's news.

All but one of the major studios announced that they will be joining Disney Movies Anywhere / Movies Anywhere.

                This sucks.

I have a ton of UV and Vudu only content.

Any chance of UV / Vudu being converted to Movies Anywhere?

I would imagine that is the plan. There are 25 million people with a UV account. I can’t imagine they are going to just abandon those. No one would feel safe buying a digital movie again if they had just been burned like that. Also, if they didn’t transfer them, I don’t know why anyone would use the new service if it meant leaving their existing collections behind...

Images posted elsewhere show the Movies Anywhere partners to be: Vudu, Amazon, iTunes, & Google Play.

GoDirectly2jail..you are looking at the current partners for Disney Movies Anywhere.

The news today was that all the major studios except for Paramount are now onboard.

They said as early as next week it could roll out.

Paramount is still negotiating for better terms

Looks like Vudu is on board. The true winners in all this will be those who chose to invest in digital media despite all the naysayers. Still don't know if Movies Anywhere will be an alternative streaming service (most likely as there is already a Disney Movies Anywhere App where you can stream your Disney movies) a digital locker like UV, or both. It'll be a good thing no matter what. The one thing I like about the DMA app are the wealth of bonus features that are included in most releases. Other than that, I still prefer Vudu for watching movies.

However, the geographic restrictions and lack of downloads will still be a sticking point for many and that would be the next thing I'd like to see addressed.

                          True....
If I get burned on this I am done with legal digital formats.

They are just the different outlets that will allow you to stream or buy the product..nothing about that has changed.

What I posted about today was that the major studios that make the content (all except for Paramount) have agreed to start making product for the Movies Anywhere format.

Amazon, Vudu, Play, etc already stream DMA. But until the announcement DMA was limited to Disney movies. The rebranding is because the studios have joined with Disney and it will no longer be just Disney movies.

My original reply was a direct response to your question about Vudu’s being included in MA:

Based on the image I quoted, the answer is ‘yes’, your Vudu content (from participating studios) should indeed port to all the other participating providers. Big news indeed!
