    Where's the Beef (DD5.1)?

As a new user having a good experience with VUDU however watching Bourne or other high action flicks in stereo just isn't going to hack it in the long run for me. VUDU needs to get on the DD 5.1 train to keep my business. What's the plan to address his major shortcoming? good luck!

I think you missed something. All of the Bourne HD movies are in 5.1 sound. How is your Vudu hooked up to your sound system?

I'm basing my audio assessment on the movie details, not wha comes out of my system. I'm looking at the Bourne Supremacy right now and it says stereo. Hmm. Ok maybe not all the Bournes are stereo however my point is that lots of what I see in the menu is stero, not DD5.1. For example, Live and Die Hard, 300 and a grunch of other action flicks that I would expect to be offered in DD5.1 are not. That's my only gripe. thanks

The HD versions of Bourne are all in 5.1, the SD versions were all released by the studios in Stereo. This has been discussed ad nauseum. Read the thread at http://forum.vudu.com/showthread.php?t=1941 until you get your fill.

Everybody wants the same thing on this subject. So far we have seen the HD stuff meet our audio expectations. I would expect this trend to continue, as there is no good reason for the studios to not deliver this to Vudu, and the Vudu company wants to provide the 5.1 sound, that's why it is built into your system.

Not sure how HD entered the discussion here as my issue is with the paucity of DD as compared to stereo, video format aside. I am to expect that DD will only be offered in HD formatted movies? That leaves a lot to be desired.

No. But I think if you slow down and browse through the catalog, you'll find plenty of good movies in DD5.1. Spiderman3 and Oceans13 are two of the SD movies that come to mind that are in Surround Sound.

I agree with you that the lack of all titles having 5.1 is something that is less than desirable. We've covered this a thousand times already on these forums.

Can you please post your box ID # and your current firmware and database version? We'll verify you are up to date with the latest and greatest for the movie database.

I think we will continue to see 5.1 sound in more and more titles, as is evidenced by the more recent additions to the database. I think this forum has helped make this happen, as the Vudu owners have let their desire for better sound be known, and it has been great to see the team in charge of securring content do a better job with the negotiations.

It really does sound like your Vudu system may not be showing the newer additions to the database. Please post your Client ID as soon as possible so we can make sure your system is up to date. We certainly want you to have the best experience possible.

I think HD came up because you referred to the Bourne movies in your original post. Since you get the 2 free Bourne HD movies that do have DD, it looked like you may not have realized that or something in your setup wasn't working.

OK. Looks like you are up to date.

Keep looking - there's a lot more movies in DD than you might think at first glance. Yeah, there's some rather large holes (like 300 ) but certainly new release HD movies should all be in DD...

Several of the SD releases in the last month have also been in 5.1. This reminds me of the open suggestion that we have a filter for searching for movies with the better sound. Thanks for the reminder, I'll nudge the UI team to see what's up with this request.

Thanks for checking. If I continue to see improvement life will be very good for us all. I've certainly been talking this up at the office. Call it Vudu fever!
